They are sometimes included in the accessories kit that is packaged with many new machines. They are generically called "clearance spacers," or "clearance jigs" (along with a few other variations). If you want to purchase one, there's a product by Dritz, called "Jean-A-Ma-Jig™" available online and at many fabric and arts and crafts stores. It looks different, but works just as well. While they are convenient, you can also achieve the same result by folding some scrap fabric to about the same thickness of the seam you're trying to go over by placing it under the presser foot, behind the needle as in the video above.

You could also tighten your pressure foot tension, it's the screw dial on top of the machine, use a coin to turn it. I'm doing leather wallet with 3.5mm leather and its working quite well for me. Sometimes, I use the zipper foot to get up against something so the bulk doesnt have to go under the foot. I'm using denim needles. Not the heavy duty needles, the denim needles are sharper and work better, also a nylon upholstery thread, or heavy duty nylon thread. Hope this helps

The 4423 comes with the walking foot. It uses the regular singer walking foot. Its compatible with any low shank foot, it doesnt require a special type of foot like some machines do.
