I'm a beginner, and a man, an old man at that. This machine and all the help videos are making me a sewing success. Hot pads, a casserole carrier, and naked potato pouches are accomplished.

I'm going to call bullshite on your advice about the plastic/ metal bobbins issue. Mine a d the friends who have this model( a sewing club type group) all agree the metal bobbin w[rks BETTER. Less bobbin tension issues, straighter more even stitches, ect

Lol. It’s not called heavy duty because it goes through heavy materials. That’s not even remotely close! It’s called heavy duty because the internal components like the frame and gears are made of metal and not plastic. Good guess though
