@@Urgelt Ok firstly let me admit that I misunderstood completely because you referred to it as a vocal break which to me is something that singers do not really like. secondly she was right to refer to it as "passage" as the official term for it apparently is "passaggio" in Italian and that translates to passage in English so she simply said it in english and thirdly yes passage refers to the transition between vocal registers.

@@shaheedkatshaza4424 As I understood it, a 'vocal break' is a place in his or her range where the singer must change technique or get an undesired result. An example is the transition between full chest belt (lower pitch) and mixed belt (higher belt) - some head voice has to be inserted in order to hit the notes. Dimash is remarkable for a lot of reasons, but one of them is how powerful his mixed belt is, and how much control he has over it. You *can* hear the break - the moment he changes technique - between those voices, but the transition is so smooth, it's easy to miss. So the way I am using the term 'break' - it isn't a mistake, it's just a change in technique. There are other words we can use for mistakes. But there is a usage outside of professional singing where the word 'break' is used differently. Such as, 'in adolescence, he was speaking in a deep register, but his voice broke.' Meaning his voice reverted to his boyish register. Awkward! And it's certainly possible that, in English, a mistake might be described as a voice 'breaking.' It sounds to me like the literal translation of 'passagio' in Italian to English, in this context, might give us 'transition' rather than 'passage.' In English, with respect to singing, I understand 'passage' to refer to almost anything. It doesn't have to be a transition. It could be used to describe a phrase sung in a single tone and technique. What is 'passing' is time; we are moving from one moment to another. The way Nya used 'passagio' suggests to me a transition of technique, not the mere passing of time. But I'm not the grammar police on this subject. That's just how I, as a native English speaker, use the words. I don't mind if others prefer to use the words differently.

@@Urgelt firstly no one denies your ability to speak English, secondly you are basically describing a passaggio aka passage. now to put this unnecessary debate to rest, Nya was not wrong for using the term "passage" and you correcting her was uncalled for, Mr "native English speaker" . i don't even know why you had to point that out as if that gives you immunity from grammar mistakes. passaggio remains the technical term for this whether you sir agree with or not , quite frankly I'm happy to provide you with a link to an article that discusses the use of the terms 'vocal break' and 'passaggio', thank you goodbye.
