He wrote this when he was very young maybe 11-12 He wrote the song when he first discovered falling in love. The D8 is one note past the end of the piano. There are those that think his voice failed when he did the second waggle and nothing came out. I think he wasn't ready to commit so he took another trip around the block to get a different run up. Those "operatic" tones he was hitting were his whistle tones too, it is just when he hits those notes we are completely distracted from them. I love how he plays to the crowd and encourages them to sing. I can tell from how you are talking about the performance but not from the tone in your voices. I'm not complaining just making an observation. I am hardly the one to be hyper critical of anybody's style of reacting. Since if I was ever to do this the people watching me would have to put up with rather large periods of me crying. I have a quirk. Some where in my brain response center. Where most people like Hank, sorry, Henri said she had goosebumps when hearing something that the brain can't comprehend or explain it responds with goosebumps, me, I cry. I have been this way since I was 5. Now, obviously with Dimash I am overwhelmed every time I hear him. I mean every time no matter how many times I hear him sing or sing this song. The worst one I react like this for is Dimash's fellow Kazakh, Daneliya Tuleshova. Daneliya I first heard when she was 10 and sang, 'Stone Cold' for her blind audition. I do not know why exactly I react so strongly, but I burst into tears before the first stone cold was out of her mouth. I am still that way though I have managed to keep from being quite so out of it. So that's why I don't do what you ladies do. Now wasn't that special? I'll tell you what, I promise not to write like this anymore if you listen to Daneliya. To tell you the truth I haven't checked your library to see if maybe you've already listened to her. I know you have listened to my other favorite female vocalist because I see you are listed for seeing her Angelina Jordan. So I am going to stop now because I probably already lost you and you won't read most of this part so bye.

Yes, Henri and Sabina, I thought exactly the same thing. That the first note was inaudible to most human ears. Maybe babies, young kids, and the animal kingdom got a special treat.

My reaction to this for the first time: I was enjoying listening to him, as always. But no one had warned me! When he used the whistle I was so shocked I closed the screen immediately! I was so surprised I could not even remember what song it was, so I couldn't find it again for the longest time. The next time I listened I was prepared, and made it through the entire song without freaking out!

I think the microphone shaking thing is him finding his focus. He does the same on the S.O.S before starting the final low note phrase.

This "Gakku" festival took place in September 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is said that the city center was paralyzed on the day of the concert. Amazing reaction! I couldn't convert any of my friends to Dears... How do I do it? In some older performances he did G7, but it looks like it didn't come out (or it was so high that I can't hear it) so he immediately compensated with D8 - which is insane! Because of the high note and because it's LIVE improvisation!

You can watch several other versions of this song from years before, then you'll realize he was supposed to actually sing while doing the "mike shaking" to emulate a staccato, but no sound came out of his vocal chords. It's just unacceptable for him to have a flaw so he wisely choose to do something he doesn't do often (the D8 that actually isn't just 1 note but 2, because he starts the whistle a semi tone lower and rises up to a D8). The result was that out of thousands of video reactions of this performance from around the world, nobody (except only one guy from Argentina) talks about his voice failing. Instead, the whole world talks about the D8 , the famous note that's out of a piano. So, Dimash is absolutely brilliant and smart in more ways than we realize. To prove this you should compare all versions of this song, take at least 4 performances and split the screen in 4 and let them play at the same time . Happy new year for you and Henri!

I know I'm 2yrs too late for my comment. I get a hoot over the reactions to this piece. Heard a few. But to your remark about that brief moment before the D8, I did hear an extremely high note for a brief moment. Very brief & I don't think he liked it. Some reactors do hear at different frequencies & it's noticeable to me when I listen to the songs they react to. I found your playback the best balance between treble & bass for clarity for my ears. And I've listened to alot of reactions to my favourite artists & Dimash is one of them.
