Do you know the story behind her awesome talent? She has always been singing, but when she was 20 years old and newly married she got cancer in her stomach and had to go through several operation. Because of this, she can never have children. But being member of the church she got people praying for her, and she survived the cancer. Because of this she sees her life a gift from God, and she wanted to dedicate her life and singing to Him. She said she wants her singing to comfort people who are in pain, telling them “I see you- I’ve been there”. She has since then almost exclusively been singing at churches at home and abroad, at charity events, or events to honor other artist - meaningful events, and avoided taking part in the big music industry. She has been contacted many times by international managers who could help her getting famous here in the West (she is famous in Asia, despite her limited performances), but she has always refused. Now she is about 40 years old (she looks so much younger!) and the last few years she has been participating in South Korean music contests on TV. When she first started singing on these TV shows she was very conflicted if this was the right thing to do. But then she saw a woman in the audience crying while she was singing, and she realised that her calling was to reach out to everyone who is hurting, not just people in church. ❤️ She not only has an outstanding talent and the most beautiful voice, her singing touches people in a way that is hard to explain, a gift from above. something I wrote recently about So Hyang ... in my 60 years of living she is by far the best vocalist I have ever heard in my lifetime and at this age I have heard them all .. I am not an expert on vocal techniques actually I am a layman when it comes to such things such as chest voice mixed voice head voice whistle tone etc what it is for me and I am sure is the same for most people like me ... we literally connect to her voice ... that it is not just subliminally but also overtly moving our souls .. it is like a spiritual awakening ... she is touching what is at the very root of our being. Being just average non musically trained people to us It is not her mastery of technique breath control or what octave she is in ( though that is what she delivers along with her emotional fortitude while singing) It is that each time she sings she takes out breath away .. it doesn't matter what song .. what genre ... it only matters that she is there before us blessing us with something we rarely get the chance to experience ... perfection ... virtuosity ... she anoints us with her musicality ... she is Gods angel giving us hope .. love .. compassion .. understanding and forgiveness in such a way that we feel enlightened an more so ... blessed to have been a part of it .. this is the greatness of So Hyang .. though many other famous "vocalist" exist in the world .. though many may gain or have fame and either equal or surpass her technique ... in the things you mention none can achieve the one thing that makes So Hyang the vocalist she is .. they are not ... So Hyang.

So Hyang is a One and only singer who can give inspiration to all people and the world. Just amazing singer

I can't control my feelings. When I hear her sing this song, I think I'm isolated on a stormy island alone, but I think she comforts me enough.

So Hyang has the best technical ability, and a clear and strong voice that can move emotions on audiences to the point of tears. I can think of no other performer , male or female that has that kind of results as often and consistently as she does. we are lucky to hear her gift.

She wasn't well-known because she probably didnt really want to. She had her first debut in Korea long ago, but she has just been recognized more worldwide recently by participating in Immortal Song :) she's a humble human being and I love her for that.
