Let me repeat here what our common summation of HER (Haley Elizabeth Reinhart): People who actually know something about good singing will understand just how exceptional Haley is - which other contestant in the history of American Idol can scat, yodel, growl, whistle, do riffs and runs? Who else can sing ANY GENRE well and has an incredible vocal range and control, with many unique inflections and the ability to transition from light ethereal tonal qualities to raw growly rock or killer jazz? Week after week, Haley gave consummate performances which showcased her diverse talents and remarkable musicality; she interpreted the lyrics accurately with her unique, naturally raspy voice which was brought into play and gave us smokey, sultry and soulfully dramatic melodies of the songs she covered. She injected life and color into it through her clever inflections, growls, subtle pantomimes and poignant push with her unique vocals - and investing it with her own oomph and panache. Haley gives us goosebumps because she is able to put the emotion in every single note and sings the lyrics like she lived them. Commercial success has NOTHING to do with talent as is evident by the crop in today's music world of auto-tuned, senseless, perversely vulgar, undressed, pornographic prancing and twerking delinquent "artistes"!

The small subtleties in her delivery even on the small quiet notes is incredible.

I don't know that it's a deliberately adopted style so much as Haley's voice is naturally very warm and slightly husky, unusual in itself. On top of that she is able to vary the tone enormously which emphasises her uniqueness.

Vocally and artistically, Haley is an old soul. If she was to be this age and singing during WWII she would have been a bigger sensation than Betty Grable or the Andrew sisters.

I can almost see The King standing behind her smiling, as a single tear gathers and falls at the end.

I found Postmodern Jukebox through you guys, which I absolutely love. If I made a comment about the reaction to her beauty, it was meant in jest, never negative. If I disagree to something you guys enjoy, I don't voice it because this is just an amazing corner for people who love music. So if I came off that way, I sincerely apologize. Here is what I like about the two of you as music reactors, you listen and then you react, you generally don't talk over the music and I love that. This is my favorite Elvis song hands down and she sang it beautifully. I've seen the commercials but I didn't realize that it was her. I listen so much music, vocal and instrumental, and you keep introducing me to things that are interesting. Her voice for me, is real. When I played Postmodern Jukebox for my students, their ears couldn't handle the different styles because of so much auto tune. You can tell her's isn't. You could also try her original "Spiderweb" it has no music video with it but it's not vintage ..it's rock/pop. I remember when that ad came out, and I liked it a lot, largely because of the vocal behind it. There is also a killer video performance from 2012 of Haley performing "Undone" from her first album called "Listen Up" when she was with Interscope Records that is really very good. The song itself was never released by Interscope Records to pop-radio, as Interscope ran into financial trouble at the same time and had to cut approximately sixty artists from their record label to escape filing for bankruptcy and, unfortunately, Haley was one of those unlucky artists.
