Күн бұрынJust a piece of audio from a lesson....If I had a nickel for every student that said this to me, I would be a millionaire. I have had many discussions about how important it is for the teacher to be able to sing, and I get nothing but pushback from the ones that cannot. However, the teachers that I have studied with that are able to sing and demonstrate said it was essential and their learning process as well. The idea that one does not need to know how to sing to teach singing is ridiculous.

Having that example to hear how it supposed to sound, and you even give examples of how I was doing it wrong, are very powerful tools. Having the recordings to go back to is also like getting another lesson! You brought my singing ability to a level I never even imagined!

Most of the KZfaq vocal coaches belong in this category. They get offended when the student asks the teacher to sing a high intensity song. They will say "my voice is not good today, today is my bad vocal day, I've caught flu" when demanded to sing. But they all sell 600, 1200USD courses paired with lip bubbles, tongue trills, bub, gug, mum, nay, ng.. mixed voice, head voice, flageolet.

I have never understood the argument that one does not need to be able to sing in order to teach. I understand that, in theory, someone who cannot sing themself can communicate ideas about singing to other people. But if those ideas were truly effective in transforming a voice, surely the teacher would have already applied those concepts to himself and transformed his own voice.

And yet, occasionally you do come across a voice teacher who sounds bad when he sings but has a list of students whose collective technical ability is astounding. I can only assume that, in general, it is better for a teacher to be able to display the skills he/she is trying to teach, but that there are just historical exceptions, as there are with everything.

ANSWERING QUESTIONS. I AM NOT A NATURAL SINGER ! MUST WATCH THE KEY TO UNLOCK YOUR VOICE!!!!!!!...;)
