I make a space at bottom of budget for things that I forgot to budget for so I can budget it in...car insurance (put back monthly to pay semi yearly), car registration, inspection, oil change, new brakes, new rotors, new tires,...these were things on the oh crap list. So I started an emergency fund... been borrowing money off of myself and paying myself back lol...I need to make that fund much bigger and working on it, but still happy because I had something to work with rather than nothing. Very good video. There needs to be more good videos like this one for the oh crap list too! thank you!

just a pro tip there's a company that sell portable generators batteries at are solar powered I think I payied like $250 for mine on sale the cheapest one is like $199 and you charge it in the sun and have at least enough power to run a lamp and a few other things. you should look into it to help with energy costs

What are sinking funds? Is that like for emergencies?

Sinking funds are savings for certain things over time. Example...Car Registration is due once a year in California. So I take the amount of the fee and divide the amount over 12 months and save that amount each month so that your not taking a chunk of money to pay the fee once it’s due. You can create a sinking fund for whatever you want. Common categories are traveling, Christmas, clothes, car maintenance, insurance, etc. I hope that helps

Grocceries 150 and gas 50??? For how many days is this? haha my gas monthly is $400 and groceries up to $800 per month...

Your car is a gas guzzler or you work and drive really far? $800 is alot for groceries, how big of family? Are you in an expensive state? That's alot to spend on groceries and gas, you wouldn't have much left to save then? I was wondering if her gas of $50 was weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Know her budget was all from one check so figured monthly? My gas is $45 every six or seven days and I drive semi far for work with midsize car, so a little under $180.00 a month. My last job was three minutes down the road, but not anymore. Grocery use to be $100 a month but now $350.00 a month on a bad month, then I wonder what I bought. Have cut out alot and going to Aldies more but still expensive. Eating chicken and hamburger, hotdogs, brauts, pork chops, spaghetti, mac n cheese, frozen veggies, frozen pizza, tuna, ramen, pasta, rice and beans, milk, cereal, rolled oats, yogurt, applesauce and dollar tree cookies. Use bread and not buns anymore, bannanas, onion...ketchup, hotsauce, mayo extras, fast food with coupons. bag of lettuce, apples, halos tangerines, eggs if price ok...coffee, soup...cut out steak, bacon, condiments, soft drinks, special drinks, lunch meat ect...

Hey Madison! Yes. I am consumer debt free. I do have student/car loans however I will attack student loans once I graduate with my BA. because of the pandemic I do not have to pay my car loan until July.
