One of the fastest ways to improve your short game is to have a model. With a short game model, all you have to do is check yourself against the model and you will immediatgely improve.
In this video, Master Single Plane instructor and short game guru Tim Graves shows us his short game checkpoints.
Here is a link to Tim's Short Game Masterclass.

The Single Plane golf swing is not a quick fix golf technique. It is a system, beginning at address, that simplifies the most important moment of the golf swing - impact.
Starting at address on two planes where the arms hang straight down at address, the Conventional golf swing is complicated. Because the arms are hanging straight down, a conventional golfer must lift the body into impact creating stress on the back.
This upward movement to accommodate the two planes is unnecessary.
The Single Plane Golf swing simplifies the golf swing by eliminating the need for the upward movement by starting and impacting on the same plane.

Todd, you are amazing! my story, 65 yrs old, just retired and moved to coastal South Carolina, I wanted to learn golf, found you on you tube, watched all your vids, bought your book, got a part time job at a very classy local course just to get free golf and range. short learning curve (2 months) from your instructions and I can only hit it straight now. used low grade clubs I bought at second hand store. driver out to 190 yrds, 9 iron 80 yrds. my friends can't believe I am a rank beginner. this is amazing. best score so far 78. Loved the point you and Tim got to with accelerating the club which lessened the back swing. That conversation that you referenced being maybe the best part of the video meant a lot to not only the short game but to guys like me whose brains and bodies have told them for years that I have to "take it back" to generate speed in the full swing too. Great job bringing the video all the way around and hitting on the "two birds" and "domino" theories.

Another great Graves brother video. I’m working hard on dropping the trail shoulder under on pitching and full swing to prevent going over the top in the full swing. Nothing new, I know, but the more I see you both demo this in the short game & full swing, the easier it is for me to work toward position 2 to impact in “the model.”

Love the info for most recreational golfers and enjoy teaching this similar motion to them. Tim Graves, how would you justify your technique compared the contrasted style of a Sieckmann or Utley who contradict your forward shaft lean at impact? I think your setup and motion is simple to repeat.

I have been out to practice chipping this way a few days now and I already see some improvement in my chipping. I cannot practice full swing right now due to a closed driving range. But I bet I will see an improvement on my full swing as well, when the range opens again. This due to working on holding the hands at the end of my chipping. It`s like the wall in some ways.

Question on this guys. When do you stop the chipping method? I figured you can do this method up to a good distance using a pitching wedge and hitting more pitch shot possibly, but once you have to get the club up near shoulder height shouldn't you just do a normal swing? I don't remember ever see Moe do a separate swings. He did chipping like you showcase here and he had a shorter backswing for 70-100 that he would use even up to 7 iron to pitch with, and then the full swing. Is that what you guys promote?

Great video! I already do some/most of that. The issue is that some videos I watch talk about using the bounce. I'm assuming the bounce is for lob shots, like Phil does. Do you change much for lob shots and use the bounce with little to no lean?

Referring to the template, which clubs would you use for the C, P and L, and under what conditions. Assuming P/L are for the lob and pitching wedges, and you are looking for more height , what would the C club usually be? ...something less lofted such as a 9-iron maybe? Thanks

Several comments asked about related things...your method of ball back/descending blow is what I was taught long ago, but professionals today don't really seem to do this. More often they seem to use the Stan Utley method of ball forward and using the bounce of the club, just trying to get the club to bottom out where the ball is or even slightly behind it. Can you address whether you've tried this method in your schools, and what your opinion is? The Utley people claim that with the ball back, there is more possibility of poor striking.
