Don't care what anybody says, if you're going to blow your motor doing almost 200mph racing a bike, so be it. That guy is a true motor head. I respect the love and dedication he has for his car.

Tokeable I agree...but I do believe a true motor head would know the sound of a spun rod bearing when he hears it and would know to shut it down immediately and tow it home. Better to not cause any more damage by sucking metal shards through the engine, you know? Just my $0.02
@Tokeable
@Tokeable 9 жыл бұрын
Art Key Yeah he could have avoided it, but like I told the last guy when you're adrenaline's going like that, which I can probably guarantee has never happened to you since your picture is the back of a Honda(no offence), then you can easily overlook your gauges or rev's. He was trying to outrace a bike at those speeds, not many people can do that. Then after the fact he tears his motor apart just hours after ready to rebuild it. Calling him a little dumb kid is just making you look bad. Enjoy the video, why you mad?

Tokeable Yeah that ticking he heard was a knocking rod cause it spun the main bearing, those flopping around on the crank causing a knocking sound. I could tell before they showed the main bearing he had a knocking rod, lucky he did not snap the rod, or bend it and take a chunk out of the cylinder wall/sleeve

@PunchingMegaTree 2 minutes or so in you notice they go up over the ankle and are boots. Also i have a few pairs of jeans lined with kevlar that look like that. Most people cant tell they have kevlar in them and look like normal jeans. The jacket and gloves are what's important too along with a full face helmet. Its not like he has tennis shoes and shorts on with a skid lid.

When you really know your car and engine inside out, it's not a hard task to actually take the engine apart in only a few hours. Looking to the engine bay, the guy has done a lot to the car. He's probably taken it apart a few times and it goes with a standard routine. In 12 or so hours, the engine can be totally taken apart, measured and reassembled.

bobwatters High EGT normally means lean. I just find it funny that people put racks of gauges in their car, only to not pay any attention to them. In my car I just had a laptop datalogging all sensor data. No gauges.
@dbxfx
@dbxfx 9 жыл бұрын
XboxorMat If I'm not mistaking, his EGT gauge was imperial and showing 800F which is no where near a dangerous level. AFR's of 11 are also within limits for most turbo engines. Sounded like a rod knock or dropped valve from retainer failure. But I agree, a data logging laptop and preferably racepak dash are the way to go!
@BF109G4
@BF109G4 9 жыл бұрын
XboxorMat he has no problem with air fuel mixture because the wideband is reading up to 11.5. The problem is the engine overheating because of the intercooler. That's why he keeps getting EGT temp alert.

+XboxorMat I am gonna go ahead and say high EGT didnt cause this because it wasnt a rod bearing, meaning there was no pre-ignition, not any that damaged bearings anyway. More likely running it at high RPM caused the oil to cut viscosity causing that bearing to fail, or possibly frothing the oil.

They made perfect sense. The EGT's got a little too hot, it ran a little too lean, spun a bearing. He read the peak readings on the gauges after the pull (solid red lights, gauges spiked) The flashing red is the warning lights. After the car cooled down it was too hard to crank over and fire, the bearings were holding everything from spinning. I wouldn't doubt if it hurt other things from going lean.

+SGTspazzo Pretty much. You can make anything fast within reason. Take 250 HP and put it in a 3000 pound car and you get your average car. Take 250 HP and put it in a bike that weighs less than 500 pounds, and you can make it go. Its all in the math and energy conversion ratios. Less weight = less torque required to move that weight = more top end gearing. For the most part.

@som3drunkguy
@som3drunkguy 9 жыл бұрын
Ok..so let's assume you drive, which from that comment (and your horrible selfie only a 12 year old would like) you don't. If you are on the highway and you check your mirrors you will NOT see a bike coming at 200mph or a car for that matter. 200mph is about 293 feet per second, or a football field in ONE SECOND. The average car is probably doing 70mph, which is about 100 fps. It is fair to say that a normal person would not expect any car behind them to close a gap at a 200fps rate, since we assume most other cars on the highway are going about the same, give or take 10mph. To put this in prospective, you check your mirror and see a car 600 feet back, or 200 yards, that's a long ways. You start to turn into your lane and in those few seconds your start turning that car is now in the side of you. So no you idiot that is not why you check your mirrors. Some day you will grow older and have friends or family killed from stupid shit like this and realize there is a time and a place for that shit, and the public roads are not it.

the redline is designed to stock standards that car is pushing well above 700 hp so the car does not redline is not accurate anymore hence why he has gauges.

@justinr8526 10 жыл бұрын
MRsteezy123 If you look at the description, I don't see that he made any mods that would affect the ability of the engine to handle the extra RPMs, if anything the redline should be lower since he's pushing all that extra power on stock components. The fact that he fucked his car up proves this is the case. Stupid mistake on his part.
@MRsteezy123
@MRsteezy123 10 жыл бұрын
Justin R huh??? lol that supra is 1000 hp is says It.and when you look at the engine the whole top end is built!! that means cams,lobes,ect. and of course the built turbo and manifold. well you see all this means is that he has built the engine so it can withstand more pressure in this case (rpm) which is why the car makes 1000 hp..the stock is like 320 @ crank ..horsepower=torque x rpm /5252...so you see when you was adding more boost pressure he had to make sure the engine can handle the power band throughout the rpm and stage 2 tune on this car which leaves it around 600 hp will raise the power rev limit of 320@ 5800 to 600@ 7200rpm peace.
@therickman1990
@therickman1990 10 жыл бұрын
MRsteezy123 Did you watch the whole video? You say they've modified the head to take the extra power. Thats ok. But it was the crank bearing that was fucked, the crank bearing is a bearing thats part of the piston rod mounted to the crank. It is not part of the head. I'm pretty sure they've done work to the bottom end aswell to get it to a 1000hp. A spun crank bearing isn't really a big deal, it happens when you are running cars with this much power at high rpm's.
@MRsteezy123
@MRsteezy123 10 жыл бұрын
Rick te Kronnie im gonna say this one more time, that engines full potential is that far in the redline I am sorry but its FACT,i have a modified car on stage 2 and my peak power was made like in the middle of the redline compared to right at the redline from factor im sure this guy dynod his car before so he knows were the car is making peak power..if you point is that it broke cause he was that far in the redline, then I agree cause everybody knows when you push a car with that much power to its full potential shits gonna break...you know what im sayin? if not let me explain stock redline @ 320@ 5800,,stage 2 leaves it at 600@ 7200rpm

Plus look at at price difference aswell 1000hp supra i would guess costs around 40-60k i dnt know!!!! Zx10r £5000 and trust me if they didnt have that nitros it wouldnt stand a chance. You need around 600 hp to to compete with a 600cc and at least 800hp to compete with 1000cc. I grant you bikes are dangerous but for as for fun factor , sexyness , price , fuel economy, tax , insurance , m.o.t , pure speeds of 180mph STANDARD!!! Bike wins hands down and im sure alot of ppl would agree

Shaun Bradley --TLDR--I'm sure they would, and they probably all own bikes instead of fast cars.. its human nature to want to try and justify the choices you've made in life... thats not me saying cars are better then bikes or vice versa, but I think we all know deep down that the answer or question isnt a simple one, and most people here arguing are just beating there chests, again human nature. While I know no one is saying the idea of you needing 600hp to compete with 600c, or any equal hp to cc numbers is an exact science, I think the notion is entirely flawed and its simply appealing to our nature of wanting symmetry in our system of understanding things.... there is WAY to many other variables to say something like 600hp is needed to beat 600cc.. you could have 600hp in a golfcart, or you could have it in a tank, there would be a huge difference in there 0-60 times... and there are other real world variables, thats why it doesn't work, even in a general sense. While a tank is an extreme example, there is a decent variation in weights of cars on the road.... that effect how the horsepower comes out.... heck thats the main reason why bikes are so much faster with their horsepower(obviously). Also, as for fun factor, sexyness, price, fuel economy, tax, insurance, and pure speed(not sure what you mean by mot) I don't think a bike wins hands down at all. I think fun factor is definately debateable, they definately are very fun and I think thats the main plus of owning/riding a bike, they are like a fun toy, I like bikes btw even though I'm a car guy, so I'm not trying to insinuate anything. As far as sexyness I don't think bikes can compete with cars for sexyness, all bikes are pretty much the same looking, not saying they arn't sexy, but cars have so much more sexyness and so much more components to appreciate about them, a car is just so much more, and there is so much more variation in automobiles then there is in bikes. Fuel economy is another great things about bikes and even though there is smart cars out there that can make comparable MPG, nobody gives a fuck about them. So bikes win there. Insurance is cheaper for bikes. As for pure speeds, I would argue that pretty much any sports car made in the last 30 years has a top speed of atleast 180mph, and atleast 50% of any other cars that arn't sports cars can to... 180mph is nothing anymore, most cars will never ever see that speed in their lifetime... but then again I'm not sure most bikes will either, it takes alot of balls to take a bike up to that speed where all it takes is hitting a rock the wrong way and your dead or paralysed from the neck down. Which brings me to my last point, while bikes are great, they are fun, sexy(not as much as a car), are cheap to buy and to own, they are also incredible dangerous and there are few things out there as readily accessible and easy to use that are as dangerous as a motorcycle... people who ride bikes often don't think of the risk that much or they would never ride, atleast untill they have a close call or someone they know dies or part of their body becomes paralysed. I know it sounds like I am anti bikes but I'm not, I just think people need to exercise alot of caution while using them, and people who drive around them need to drive cautiously to. BTW this reply isn't just for you, I spent alot of time reading alot of posts, and don't feel like posting to all of them, also this isn't me telling you off, you seem like an ok guy and I respect your opinion, I'm simple responding with my own opinion on the matter that you touched on in your post expecting that not only you will read it but others aswell. --TLDR--

I wasnt saying it as an exact figure but around 600hp is whats needed to compete. Ive raced bikes down drag strips and a lot of tracks. See the track times for yourself just go on there websites im sure they have all the details on them. Cadwell park ( mini nuremburgring ) were they hold bsb. The fastest thing to go round there is a 2005 zx10r with a 1:26 now beleive me when i say there has been 1000hp time attack cars that cant beat it. Now unless you know what your talking about experiance wise i suggest you keep quiet. I wasnt bein exact i was just having a rough guess

@aaronmonke6825
@aaronmonke6825 8 жыл бұрын
Idk hard to say, inline engines have inherit oiling issues to the farthest cylinder from the oil pump, im guessing there might be our problem, In my experience which is not on this mill btw,a wedge of sufficient oil is needed to keep the rotating assembly happy. Not sure I'm explaining correctly. Detonation could be the cause but normally spun bearings are from poor lubrication and high rpm. improper bearing clearance is another topic to explore but that's up to the engine builders quality and knowledge, was his torque wrenches properly calibrated ect ect, that's the problem when you go this far from factory your kinda out in the deep end of uncharted waters
