This video describes the use of singularity functions (Macaulay's Method) to calculate deflections of beams with various loading and support conditions. By the end of the video, you should be able to describe a singularity function, describe typical loading conditions (i.e. concentrated force/moment, distributed loading) using singularity functions, explain how singularity functions are used to calculate beam deflections.

This guy is incredible. His approach grabbed my attention from the start, just by the way he speaks about the material. If that's not enough, he literally answered my two biggest questions about this subject in the first 2 minutes of the video. This is unheard of in engineering!!! Thank you!

I was one who was wondering "what the heck is a singularity function?!", haha. The explanation using the step function was most helpful. Thank you!

Can't thank you enough for the video. I have been taught the integration method for calculating deflection without being told how to develop these equations. Up until now feels like I have been doing these integrations with one hand tied behind my back.
