I've been to, and played, in hundreds of gigs; in 1985 I was 17 years old, watched this live on TV, I'm 56 now, I watch this 3+ times a month. A true gift to humanity. RIP Freddie. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

He had a serious throat infection, the Dr. had recommended he cancel, that wasn’t happening! The drink on the piano that looks like beer is actually a tea honey lemon concoction for his throat. This is one performance that you actually hear his voice break, just a couple times, which is great considering.

I was 12yo when my brothers bring a spring matress to the living room, and I said, "whats happening?" They were excited, ITS QUEEN, LIVE!!! I´m from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, México, (just in the border of McAllen, Texas), It was a 29 inch tv set, in a 23 NBC channel, barely at 11:00 am, it was happening LIVE AID. It still magical.................. oh, tears are present. Thanks for sharing a beautiful flashback. Hugs.

As others have said, Freddie had a throat infection, and from memory it was a very humid day. I couldn't get tickets, but I remember sitting watching on TV with all the windows open

Live Aid concert was broadcast live throughout the globe and i was 13 when i was watching it live from Borneo . Immediately fall in love and bought Queen cassette album the next day

I'd also recommend "Save Me" from Montreal as well. It was a new song off the Game album, in fact the last track of the record, so it was the first time hearing it live. I know I enjoyed it in September of 1980 at Madison Square Garden.

The first two on are the comedians Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones a well known double act from the UK. Was a great concert, I had it playing in my bar all day, this really revived Queen's career, one hard act to follow 🙂

72,0000 people at Wembley, another 100,000 in Philadelphia, and 1,2 billion watching on TV globally. The Olympics have 3 satellites...Live Aid had 13. I wasn't a Queen fan at all, but after that day..I was lol! The world for Africa! I remember it was very hot that day in Wembley Stadium July 13th 1985 but it was worth it, best day in my life! 👏👏🇳🇱

A (unofficial) member of Queen that gets overlooked at all this is Spike Edney who played all the keyboard parts and sung background vocals live from the wings of the stage out of sight. Only came out to play piano on „crazy little thing“

Absolutely great reaction Emma thanks 🙏, I actually attended this amazing concert, 20 different artists involved in Live Aid Wembley Stadium , and Queen absolutely stole the show with this legendary Performance, check out Queen at Hammersmith Oden a song named (White Queen) Freddie’s vocals are so amazing and the band’s musicians are so talented!

A lot of people comment about how he owned that gigantic audience, but I remember watching this on TV in the US. By the the time they had gotten to 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are the Champions' Freddie Mercury owned the world. This performance is a masterclass in showmanship.

Brian May, the lead guitarist, and his father made his guitar, he wrote a lot of the songs and played all of them and in his spare time earned a PhD in astrophysics..

The other acts accused Freddy of stealing the show. Queen did a tribute concert to Freddy after his passing.R.I.P. with guest vocalists. I feel that George Michael stole that show with his Someody to Love. All his heart and soul in a truly epic performance.

That which you were describing as the choir, the voice of you describe as following Freddy so accurately is actually the audience singing along with Freddie, and Freddie was actually suffering from about of laryngitis during this performance

His voice did break on the odd occasion only because he was ill when he did this with a throat infection due to his HIV and he still went on stage the man was and still is a legend truly one of a kind

I hope you realize that a lot of high pitched singing and belting is done by Roger Taylor, the drummer. But Freddy is still the best of course.

Have to agree with @lauren raubaugh. "Somebody to Love in 1981 Montreal". Rare to find better live musicians. And Roger Taylor, also so so good. And Brian Bay. And John Deacon. Such a cohesive band.

The guitar player is sir Brian May phd and is thought to be one of the best guitarists. Freddie is wonderful but is only one fourth of Queen. All members are equally amazing. You should notice Rogers voice also amazing
