Martin McGuinness MLA visits the Nationalist Short Strand area of East Belfast the scene of vicious assaults by unionist mobs on that community. During his visit the Joint First Minister met with local community leaders and residents who had recently suffered from attacks on their homes to pledge to them his support and solidarity.

I have to say it - R.I.P. Martin McGuinness. What a great speech at the end. Whatever you might think about the past, what he says here is very fair.

It's so sad that there is still such violence, just because a compromise about that flag had been reached. But what a great statement. I wish Mister McGuiness ran for the European Parliament next year. :-)
