Thank you for the excellent SIP tutorials! Wishing to flag one issue for future updates: SBC is an example of Back-to-back User Agents (B2BUA). SBC functionalities are not standardized (unlike the other devices you described).

+sipsense.com This is my 1st time trying to find out what's in the SIP service "black box" VOIP providers subscribe to. This being my 1st look into SIP, I can't speak to how well your presentation compares with others, but I definitely came away feeling that I got a good overview of what SIP services do for VOIP providers. Thank You!

I've googled for "how VoIP works" so many times, only to be fed the same marketing "it's like a normal phone but it works over the internet!". Completely useless information for understanding how VoIP works. This is the only resource I've found so far that actually explains what is going on.

Many thanks. This was very helpful and very informative. Thanks. fyi only, I think there might be a mistake at ~10m30s. 10.x.x.x IP addresses are internal addresses and so I found the use of this as an external IP address slightly confusing. An 11.x.x.x IP address would perhaps have been a better example? Thanks.

At 4:15 the narrator states that the ethos of SIP is to have different devices from different vendors, so that there is no dependency on one vendor. Does this mean that avaya's PodFx goes completely against the SIP ethos? I'm just curious if the PodFx is somehow an exception from this. Thanks! !

+sipsense.com The Session Border Controller sounds a lot like NAT. How is it different? I'll google it, of course, but I'm curious about your view. tks

Ty but what's the difference between the sip protocol and voip? Are they similar or it is totally different?

Now how does the phone know the registrars ip address?
@eddiem48684 жыл бұрын
I am assuming via DHCP
@ujwalk43113 жыл бұрын
We configure the phone to talk to our SBC and sbc would take care of registering this phone to an out bound proxy which is in the same network as that of sbc.
