Anthony Foster Hi, Anthony, I’m Patty Padden , drummer for Big Mama, and a friend of your step-dad John Harris. What a great drummer he was! If I live to be 100 I’ll never forget this night, it was so magical!

A great show! Here is the part from my book about Big Mama Thornton "Big Mama Thornton: The Life and Music", where I wrote about the show: "In March 1983, Big Mama Thornton was a part of the award-winning PBS television special "Three Generations of the Blues" with Sippie Wallace and Jeannie Cheatham. The first hour featured ninety-two-year-old vocalist Sippie Wallace with her accompanist. The second hour showcased Big Mama Thornton. The third hour was Jeannie Cheatham`s part playing with her husband and her band. The show had a finale planned with everyone together on stage. Sippie Wallace and Big Mama Thornton didn’t know that for a good reason. Sippie Wallace and Big Mama Thornton, had according to Jeannie Cheatham, disliked each other on sight. Everybody around wasn’t sure if the finale would work out without trouble. After the third set, Jeannie Cheathams called out on the mike: 'Now, ladies and gentlemen, we gonna have a really great treat! We gonna have a good old-fashioned finale! Ladies, come on up on this stage and show all these good people how to perform a finale!' And the ninety-two-year-old vocalist Sippie Wallace and the almost thirty-five years younger Big Mama Thornton started trading verse after verse of made-up-on-the-spot lyrics- insulting each other and each other´s man and their mamas." www.amazon.com/Big-Mama-Thornton-Life-Music/dp/0786477598/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1422609617&sr=8-4&keywords=big+mama+thornton

Want to read your book, but can't afford it - prices on amazon are ridiculous. Still, it's on my wish list, for when I do hopefully have enough money. Thank you for the above extract - thank goodness it didn't get too ugly, 'coz Big Mama would have kicked Sippie's ass for sure - lol

According to you the show was 3 hours in length. PBS edited it down to a one hour show. Can you confirm this?
