The inaugural Premier League season was won by Manchester United as they finished 10 points clear of Aston Villa. It was Manchester United's first league title for 26 years and it certainly wasn't the last.

As a Liverpool fan this is the worst moment of my footballing life, but you can not argue the true genius of Ferguson. It’s strange looking back at this moment and seeing United breaking a 26 year wait for a league title!

Yes 26 years was a long gap - funny how so many people erased it from their minds to concentrate on our own wait for a title and slate us for it. Ah selective memory among football supporters... 😉 He makes a lot of good points in this interview about how hard it would be to keep winning and to battle in Europe, and the attitude the club needs to keep at that level. Instructive for anyone regardless of who you support.

Cant deny no matter what club you support Sir Alex is one of the greatest managers of all time. Probably the greatest club manager of all time with the amount of titles he won. Though I support Liverpool, as painful as it is to admit, United achieving what they did in that time don’t think can be matched by another club for a long time. Like Liverpool in the 70’s and 80’s.

A good friend of mine is a Liverpool supporter. He is actually worried about next season because he doesn't feel their current crop of players is a very hungry bunch. I recently saw Klopp getting asked a similar question and his reply was "I think if we are sitting here in four years we'll probably have won one more." Comparing Klopp's answer to Sir Alex's I understand where my friend is coming from.

They've done well to win but you have to keep winning, this Alex guy seems like a one season wonder manager to me. Once Souness gets Liverpool going again they well be back to dominate for the next 20 years, you mark my words.

I'm a Liverpool fan and I absolutely hated watching this man sit down and chew his stupid chewing gum plotting our demise. But there is only one Sir Alex Ferguson. This man is an inspiration, an absolute legend, and it's quite possible that his legacy and work may never be overtaken by any other manager. I hope Jurgen Klopp does something similar for us. Even 50% of what Fergie did would be a huge achievement in today's football environment

Equally Klopp has that aura...he will be missed. Im at Utd fan but Klopp for me is the best current manager. Pep has never had to form teams with minimal funds so despite his success...i can never see him as one of the greats yet

United have the youngest squad in the prem in 2-3 years Liverpool and City will have to rebuild and than they will take over. Having the oppurtunity of finishing third with a the youngest team in the league Meeans that in a couple of years the players will be more matchure and better overall so they are going to challsnge for the league for some time in that period.

My dislike of Manchester United has gone up and down for different reasons since the season they signed Cantona. However, there is still no club or team that comes anywhere near Manchester United and Alex Ferguson for prestige and brilliance.
