Part Two! Sir Gawain and the Green Knight: KUT Austin radio broadcast performance from the 1970s
Part ONE is here: • Sir Gawain and the Gre...
This is one of the most lively and evocative readings of this dramatic 14th C. tale of the Christmas Season, which begins in Camelot, at the court of King Arthur. It was performed in the KUT radio studio during the 1970s, and deserves to be revived! Members of the cast and the director were connected with the University of Texas at Austin, as follows:
Translation of text by Burton Raffel
Directed by Bill Levitan
Music directed by Brad Benton (Collegium Musicum)
Narrator: Douglass Parker
Sir Bercilak/Green Knight: Gareth Morgan
Sir Gawain: Tony Howe
The Lady: Jane Wilson Joyce
King Arthur (and other roles): Ben Teague
Please note that--due to a fault in the tape--there is a small part of the text missing (perhaps two or three minutes), at the end of Part Three, but it is soon followed by the conclusion of the piece, in Part Four.
