In Case You Haven't, 🎸 "Leslie West - Mountain Tribute - If I Were A Carpenter" (Title, depper channel, you.T) ~ 5:21 Mins. But, Seger's Performance Is The Nearest Toss-Up , And My Favorite Seger Tune. There's Few Versions Of This Song Written By Tim Hardin, Which Are Not "Good" (IMO) And What A Song, It Is ... Kind Regards ( 3 May '23 ) Out Of The "Far East" 🙂 .

I know exactly what you mean. I've heard all the other covers as well. And I don't think it's just his voice. What he/they did with the musical arrangement is absolute perfection. I loved his music before I ever heard his cover of this song. But he clearly took the song and breathed some fresh air into it. He gave it the life it needed. And with this performance, he owned it. And as you sit and listen to it and take it all in, you KNOW the song finally found it's way to the proper owner. That's not saying anything about the others who tried to cover it. It's simply that the "Right" person got their hands on the "Right" song. And magic happens!

Dayuum. Bob got down on that boring ass cash song. He freaking rocked it. First time hearing it sing this way. For a song I didn't like has now got to be a favorite. That man can sing a story out of a newspaper and make it gold.

The song was written for Bobby Darin for sure, but this is so different, it makes it a fabulous version! Of course, anything by Seger is great!

this was a fun one to try to play along to so many people usually put guitar covers up with a song it's easier to Bobby Darin Robert or Plant cover more folk Tim Hardin version I took a shot at the electrified version last year.. trying to blend the guitar not overpower it because the Hammond organ really stands out to you but just getting the guitar to play along it was but then again I'm a long-haul truck driverbut then again I'm a long-haul truck driver for 30 years and don't really have time to make fantastic covers I just sometimes throw on the record of the phone and play along..with just a little practice amp along with the turn around chords was the hardest part I found.. yeah it is I see if I were a carpenter cover I don't see any of Bob's electric versions I see everybody else's that's why I went out of the box and tried it a year ago still one of the best of the deep cut Bob Seger songs that most people have never heard
