Now and again I forget how good of an actor John C. Reilly is. Also good to see Paul Giamatti…aka “Pig Vomit”. Giamatti also had a small role in “Donnie Brasco”.

Hard Eight is one of my favorite films of ALL TIME!! Donnie Brasco is good, Bound is INCREDIBLE, and Booty Call is HILARIOUS!! It’s funny that S&E gave Booty Call two thumbs up as well!!😂👍🏻👍🏻

that's a good point, I saw Donnie Brascoe again like a month ago and noticed Giamatti in it, and thought to myself "oh cool this must have been before he broke out in Private Parts." Didn't realize they came out the same year let alone the same week!

What a good week/2 weeks in film, Private Parts and Smilla's are both really good. Booty Call was really funny when it came out. I haven't seen it since like 1999. But Hard Eight and Donnie Brascoe are fantastic! like 9.2+ out of 10

There's a reason "Smilla's Sense of Snow" goes off the rails in the final act. The screenwriter threw out the author's ending and came up with something more cinematic.
@errolbourgeois8230
@errolbourgeois8230 Жыл бұрын
I agree with totally Lee,but I think the author ending in the book is a bit high brow for the movie public. He had no choice in the matter and had to do it to " save the movie" for the public.

the sequel to Private Parts would very likely be Miss America, but alas we have yet to see this come about. PP a moderate success so I don't see why that couldn't be done. Plus a good debut (for the most part) of PAUL GIAMATTI. He to show up in more films to come along, esp. American Splendor.

@ricardocantoral7672

The irony here is that he was always portrayed as the top dog of organized crime in his previous roles. Michael Corleone, Tony Montana, Carlito Brigante, all respected gangsters. In Donnie Brasco, he portrays a loser who never managed to make his way to the top of the mob who finally offs himself after one last humiliation.

Probably too many new directors to make a big deal of it and they really doubled down on the acting. Then there is 20/20 hindsight... they didn't know the career PTA would have.

I actually like jonny Depps performance more so then Al pachino as lefty(ironic because in real life Al Pacino is a lefty)in real life though the actuall mafia member nicknamed lefty hated hats and did not wear any.the book written by the real agent played by Depp seems to point out quite of bit of discrepancies between the real lefty and Al Pacino's portrayal......

Donnie Brasco was one of my biggest misses..as it was playing in my multiplex ( it was new) and i saw "Event Horizon" and "Fire Down Below"....instead...maybe part of the reason was the title in Japan (where I live) was "Fake" ...not quite as appealing
