I actually remember this episode and was hoping that evita would get a thumbs up. Literally sweating. Also sweating on how they would react to b&b movie …. And my mouth dropped when they got a positive review.

I can see "North" being retold in a sweet little children's book about a boy who wishes he had different parents but finds that out of all the WONDERFUL different couples he meets that his own parents are the best for him.

Bad Influence is the only movie whose soundtrack has a Skinny Puppy song on it (Who's Laughing Now? which makes good use of some soundbites from The Evil Dead II).

The intro to this show is so wonderfully 90s it seems like a parody of a 90s intro.

First movie I bought on DVD was "The Frightners" by Peter Jackson. It had really good special effects when I saw it in theatres and thought it would be a good demo disc. It was late in 1998, my first DVD player was just a drive in my PC, but playback was great.

Fact! in Mr. Holland's Opus, it's the Seattle Symphony who's actually playing the music in the movie. And even when the students perform poorly at first, it's also done by the Seattle Symphony.

the sequel to Private Parts would very likely be Miss America, but alas we have yet to see this come about. PP a moderate success so I don't see why that couldn't be done. Plus a good debut (for the most part) of PAUL GIAMATTI. He to show up in more films to come along, esp. American Splendor.

In one of his books, Alan Alda tells a story about how, while making Whispers in The Dark, due to it taking three hours to apply and glue the grappler's hook in his forehead, he would sometimes have lunch on the set while wearing the hook. If Gene had a big laugh seeing it on screen, he would have died laughing if he had been on set and saw Alda eating with the hook in his head.

Man, I think I remembered seeing Folks on TV when I was a child. It's a vague memory, and I had no clue what the title was, and with a title like Folks, it's hard not to see why. I'm sure I'd hate it if I saw it now, but somehow, I was entertained by it as a child.

They’re comments were less about the woman choosing the wrong man than about how the film has a weird Gen X misogynist slant. An intelligent attractive driven young woman ought to be with the worthless unmotivated slob who treats her like garbage because the responsible guy with a good job who treats her well is a “sellout”? Absurd. Siskel & Ebert we’re spot on.

Just recently watch it and Siskel nails it. Pretty mediocre film where Spielberg and Williams(what a generic score) phone in their jobs; Indy isn’t really even Indy in it, only Ford playing him makes him Indy. The way he so easily falls for Elsa and feels betrayed by her is helpful for the plot but isn’t cynical, world weary, Indian Jones. Connery is the films saving grace which makes the film enjoyable. Raiders is an action adventure masterpiece, probably the greatest of all time, but this is far echo of it

Everything they say about Radioland Murders is spot on but I still enjoyed it. Its an overly energetic romp that’s got more excitement than it knows what to do with but also such childlike innocence and humor with a love for the magic of radio and the times it dominated nightly entertainment (which I incidentally do as well and love movie centered around radio though it’s well before my time) that it wins me over. I can totally understand someone hating it for the reasons they point out but I like it almost in spite of myself. Is it Bullets Over Broadway, one of the best comedies by one of the best comedy writers in film history? No, not even close(and it’s a brutal twist of fate that had it going up against it) but it’s fun escapism that’s innocence has grown since, cuz at this point, 94 is practically as much the good ol’ days as the 40’s was for the creators of it. Kevin Smith on the other hand I’ve never thought has anything that remotely indicates talent... But sometimes there’s a man, and I’m talking about The Dude and Keven Smith here, sometimes there’s a man, well, he’s the man for his time and place, he fits right in there, and that’s The Dude and Kevin Smith in(early 90’s) Los Angeles

Sisley & Ebert didn’t see “It’s Pat: The Movie”. If they had, it would have definitely made this list. It may have even beaten “North” for worst movie of 1994.

This episode is such a gammit of how they could both be entirely wrong on a movie then rebound and be entirely right, it's honestly amazing. Bird on a Wire they fail utterlly on, and they get Last Exit to Brooklyn and Longtime Companion perfectly right. BOAW is a underrated and fun romantic comedy/action flick of a bygone era and the other 2 are two excellent human saga dramas. What a week to pick something to watch lol. Ebert's criticism of Hawn's so dumb.. just because someone is a "tough," attorney doesn't mean they won't be scared in a life or death situation, not was her and Mel's chemistry awful. That's what makes the movie so fun, they get along well as a legit pairing. Time's aged the movie better than their reviews there. Then 4-5 minutes later Ebert has that poignant quote in the Brooklyn review about tone's not making a movie good, dude could say something utterly idiotic then rebound to being poignant in a heartbeat. Makes me lmao thinking about it. Siskel wasn't that smart but he had his moments too.

"Starship Troopers" is a guilty pleasure of mine. Yes, there are some ridiculous moments, but it's mostly a fun popcorn flick to watch on a Friday night. The same applies to "Alien: Resurrection". Regarding the latter, it's not my favorite of the Alien franchise (nor will it ever be Oscar-worthy), but it's still a worthy entry, nevertheless. "Home Alone 3" was fun, but it lacked the heart and charm of the first two movies (in terms of the "sequels" that followed after, we don't talk about those). But yeah, "Jungle 2 Jungle" was GAY. I remember my siblings and their friends deciding to rent that one from the video store on VHS during the summer of '97 and how unbelievably stupid and dull it was. That movie was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen!
