Siskel and Ebert reviews a Disney American animated musical drama film, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" in June 21, 1996. Featuring the voice cast members of Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Tony Jay, Kevin Kline, Paul Kandel, as well as Charles Kimbrough, Jason Alexander and Mary Wickes as Victor, Hugo, and Laverne respectively.
It is the 34th Disney animated feature film and the seventh produced during the Disney Renaissance, and it is also loosely based on the 1831 novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. The plot centers on Quasimodo, the disabled bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and his struggle to stand up to his ableist father Claude Frollo, who also wants to commit genocide against Paris' Romani population.
Both of them loved this movie, when Gene gives a marginal thumbs up for memorable the characters, especially the depth of Quasimodo, the drawings, and some beautiful songs, and Roger gives thumbs way up, as he considers that it is one of the best Disney pictures of 1996 since "Beauty and the Beast" , while he still liked "Aladdin" and Pocahontas".
To this day, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" is considered to be one of Disney's darkest animated films due to its mature subject matter such as Infanticide, lust, damnation, antiziganism, genocide, and sin, despite the changes made from the original source material in order to ensure a G rating from the MPAA.
I totally agree Gene and Roger as well, I really loved this movie A whole lot. It's one of my favorite Disney animated films. I thought it is truly powerful. The story was strong, and the emotional is so important. I really like Quasimodo more. He's my favorite main character. I thought he was kind, shy, nice, and lonely, and he really needs is freedom. Then he's brave, careful strong-confident and, do-the-right-thing, and I was so moved, and touching. And I do believe that Quasi is a very special person. Anyway, it is a great animated film, as it will always be in my heart. Thumbs way up for me on "The Hunchback of Notre Dame".
