I always figured the vow of silence arose because actually talking to such a soulless being would likely incite violent rage in your average imperial citizen.

To be honest, it's likely that seeing the emperor's "weak side" They think of him as a god that sacrificed himself for the good of all, basically like jesus, so, while knowing that he's just a man they also know that all his suffering is for the good of humanity, and they respect that.

Why are Space Marines castrated with such hotness running around the Imperium, this is why people fall to Slaanesh.

About the Big E and Malkador beign unafected by the Sisters, there is another example of despite beign the most powerful psyker in the galaxy he doesn't only rely on the warp, the Big E's own deamons, the living saints. It may be completely unrelated but if the Big E can spawn a deamon that can endure beign cut off from the warp he (and his bro Malkador) may had tricks to better stad the sisters.

I actually really agree with the argument in the beginning. Adding in female space marines and custodes would just take attention away from the two Sisters, which are more interesting than either in my opinion.

Honestly if pariahs are like black holes, then I see the Emperor as more of a White hole. As you probably know Major, (since you're secretly smart) it's a theoretical phenomenon in astrophysics where matter is constantly expelled from a singularity. It's the literal opposite of a black hole. In this case, the Emperor is like a living hole in the warp. So if the Emperor is constantly expelling psychic energy, then the sisters or other pariahs can't really drain all of his psychic power. Using the white hole analogy, think of him like a supermassive white hole surrounded by a bunch of tiny black holes. Yeah they drain his power, but that much energy can't be dissipated by much weaker and less massive black holes. That's how I look at it anyways.

Fun fact a lot of demons can't actually see blanks. I imagine a similar thing happens with the sisters. (Greater demons and demon princes can I believe)

I prefer to believe that instead of being somehow immune to the SofS' drain, being that powerful while also technically a living being made the Sister's somehow beneficial to the Big E and little M. A little bit of Cleaning symbiosis or something, the Big E gets a bit of a psyker spa treatment, and I assume the Sisters enjoy sucking down warp energy, if they can enjoy anything.

The Sisters seem to have some control over how badly their Null powers can fuck over someone's fine, so they're probably trying to put the brakes on around the Emperor and Malcador.

Sisters of silence lore: badass ladies who tell the warp to GTFO. Sisters in custodies: “oh! Cheap troops! Could you be a dear and guard this objective.” In all seriousness, great article! Both entertaining, a hearty chuckle and informative. It’s got me inspired to clear this table of plastic. Though on a slight tangent. I imagine they dress so boldly and bright because as pariahs they are hard to look at directly, thus by having rediclously ostentatious gold/brass/whatever armour with fur cloaks, it gives the eye something to look at without actually having to properly focus on them as individuals, a process that would drive most people mad, thus dampening down the difficulty in interacting with them. I once read a book that had a guy who basically dressed as a jester, as by his very nature he was basically was a permanent background character who couldn’t be observed unless he really drew the eye. Thus when he took off those garlish layers and basically disappeared made for a cool moment.

So what, do the rest of the sisters just never ever get into his crib? Seems strange considering they share his defence with the custodes...

Is there any interactions between Magnus and blanks since he is the only pysker that can match the emperor magical might I wonder if he was adversely affected by blanks or is his connection so strong that nothing can disrupt it

I can only think of two reasons that the Sisters of Silence don't speak. Either the augmentations that they probably receive wind-up melting their vocal cords, or when they take the oath of silence they take it a step further and remove their vocal cords

Do we have sisters minis for the Custodes? My mate is starting a 1Ksons army soon, so is gonna be heavy with psyker powers. I think I am starting Custodes as Jetbikes are cool and I want to do silver ones to get some good use from my high end silver paints (they were nearly 8 quid a pot. you can make glazes with them though, which you can't do with many metallic paints) It would be awesome if I had sisters of silence as part of that force, to really mess with his 1ksons sorcs. I know theres an assassin I can use (Cullexus I think?) that is great at messing with Nerd heavy armies, but I think the Sisters will fit thematically with the Custodes really well. I was going to do White Scars next as white armour looks badass, and also I love bike troops. I ideally want to have loads of those new primaris outriders, and some land speeders and stuff. maybe a couple of drop pods as well. I might end up doing Custodes first though, as they also have bikes. I am a fan of elite armies as they have smaller mini count (I prefer small elite armies over huge horde ones, by like a million) and the Custodes are the elite of the elite, having an even smaller mini count than space marine armies. I will still definitely be doing some white scars as well, as the idea of a force of biker marines is just too cool, but I'm really starting to warm up to the idea of doing some silver Custodes now. I think silver ones are canon as well. I need to get their new Codex and have a read about them.

The Emperor more than likely created them as some sort of side project that got out of hand when the Horus Heresy broke out. And like his Web-Way project was never finished. They were probably going to be his ultimate weapons against demons of the warp and the dark gods
