Love the Helmer Houdini story. He's like some of my cats: opening doors and wanting to be with you everywhere. At home i never close a door behind me, because first there will be a sing along and then they will open it by jumping on the handle. So the front door is always on an extra lock they can't open because it is round.

I had a german shepard as a child who could open doors (even the ones with knobs) and open windows too. The windows was especially a problem since if we locked the door she'd get out through the windows and she'd show up at my school (which was less then a block away at the time). She didn't escape to wander around, she'd escape to find me at school, I think she had a bit of seperation anxiety.

My husband's German grandmother had a dresser in the summer kitchen of her house where she stored mittens, hats, slippers, shopping bags, etc. Anyone who entered the house that didn't immediately go to get a pair of slippers very promptly got told quite forcefully to go and get slippers on. Love all your new Rowan designs before I even knew you'd done them. But honestly: Please put up a pattern for sale on Arne's sweater! I understand it was a scrap project, but the color selection and placement, combined with the stitch patterns, is just terrific! Re: Helmer, we had to train our dog out of her separation anxiety. Tell her goodbye and take care of the house, see ya later, etc., toss a few tiny treats toward her, then close the door. Wait one minute, come back in and ignore the dog. Repeat a thousand times, just increasing the interval you're gone. Worked beautifully. Good luck!

Hi guys! About pink and red - I hated that colour combination when I was a child. Nobody told me those colours shouldn't be combined, but it was my feeling about that at the time. Today, I like this combination of specific tones of red and pink, but then again, today I am art professor and painter, so my attitude is that there is no ugly colour if you can find a good complementary pair for it. Colours come alive when they are in company of another, or few others.

Helmer is a puppy still and a smart one at that. During COVID you have been home and now he just needs to know that you will come back. Once things go back to normal he will become adjusted to being left as you travel more often. Maybe the people who look after him could take him for a car ride more often so that becomes normal and he is comfortable -- he could go to that house for a couple of hours and them pick him up. Then all would seem normal. Good to be out and about though and feeling normal. Ottawa is locked down as is all of Ontario. Be safe!!!

Helps when I am buying flooring, paint and tile for remodels. And hunting mushrooms!!! I had a Doberman that was the smartest dog ever, his sire's registered name was Houdini and let me tell you NOTHING could hold that dog! My French Canadian grandmother had a big basket of colorful slippers she had crocheted and knitted, just inside the back door of her house. From toddler to grown-up sizes. It was fun to choose a pair to change into before coming into her spotless home. No shoes in the house!

I found your discussion of the development of a design to actual knitted garments fascinating. Thanks for the brief view into your world of knitting design. Once again I was sewing a bit while listening. Your podcast works well for sewing as well as knitting and I sew better than I knit.

Lots of people are afraid of color. I'm not a master designer, but I quilt, knit (easy stuff) and crochet. I think that color sense is instinctive, as you have said. I think it's easy to take cues from nature, just for starters. Gardens: there are no "wrong" combinations there. I've been inspired by design books, art....what makes me feel good. My only no-no is overall drabness. ;) Thanks for not taking your pants off. hahaha

I've been watching your Crochet Mandala series whilst working on my Hedvig throw (45 flowers done now) and I'm already wanting to do these cute granny squares! I know you often mention the confusion between US and UK terms but I've found the most helpful thing is watching your videos and Arne explaining how many 'times round the needle', especially as I didn't know the terms anyway!I've only really learnt to crochet competently since Christmas using your crochet basics playlist.

Loved this one where you are away. So inspiring to see your granny square blankets, haven’t made one for years since I was a little girl. I would love to have a pattern for the doll you brought and maybe by this time she is out. I also have your doll book so perhaps by changing yarn and needle size she’d be almost the same. Thank you two for sharing your days with us, I feel so happy and inspired when I watch. Be well and stay happy and healthy you two.😊❤️
