How the life of a SITE ENGINEER looks like?? What are the duties and responsibilities of a CIVIL ENGINEER?? How it looks on the Construction site in UK??
In today's video you will see how the day in the life of a Civil Engineer looks like on one of my jobs. It's a random weekday showing you some typical duties of an Engineer. You see how construction site looks, I will show you some hard landscaping works and small groundworks tasks. I will set a new control targets and teach you how to do it the best way 😁 I will also show you how to survey the existing pipe and bring the survey to CAD - this way checking how many meters of pipe we still need to finish the works. This is a awesome video! Never in my 10 years of civil engineer career I've experience working on skyscrapers or multi level buildings. We usually stick with Major roadway corridors. I always wanted to see how different it is from what I do. I also use Leica Survey equipment. I currently use CS20 data collector but I think the CS15 is better in my opinion. Great video!

Greg, any chance you’d be up for doing some sort of video on plumbing up core walls? Just interested to see how other guys do it and see if you have any good tips.
@SITENG
@SITENG 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph! Not any soon I think. To plumb the core walls the plumb lasers are used and you can still do the checks with EDM. If it's slipform the driver really should keep an eye at this with your help and keep correcting the rig
@josephhough211
@josephhough211 2 жыл бұрын
@@SITENG Thanks for getting back to me Greg. We currently using jump form. For plumb I’m just checking the shutters top & bottom (with an offset) against the plumb at the same point on the exposed concrete from the levels below. Trying to keep everything the same. And then just checking this against the plan position of the walls as well. Would you do anything drastically different from that? Great videos though mate, some great content 👍🏼

Hi! look for some graduate engineers roles, or assistant engineers. This year doesn't look great for the industry, but don't lose hope. Look big projects like HS2 and HPC - they're always looking for people.

Hi! Just remember you will need your CSCS card and NI number apart from visa to start on site. I really recommend going from site to site and ask for a job apart from sending CV etc. Good luck!!!

@SITENG
@SITENG 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul! I'll try to do a video on it :) You don't need a degree for it and I would start from engineering and then go into PM, possibly do some course on the way :)

@@pauljoseph3029 If your ultimate goal is to be PM then maybe construction project management is the one, but for me the sooner you will get on site the better and it's always better if PM went through some engineering :)

@SITENG

Hi Michelle! Of course it is, this year is really good for engineers and it shouldn't be a big problem for you to jump to UK reality. You just need to make sure you are eligible to work here, or get some permit as there was many changes since brexit not only regarding EU.

Question: in the UK are Construction Site Engineers surveyors?
@SITENG
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
It's typically first step to do setting out on site, but it's not surveying only. For me it was a surprise too as I didn't know how to use surveying equipment first 😁 It's much better/easier to be an engineer and learn a bit about Total Station than be a surveyor and start to be a site engineer.
@wallyjr.
@wallyjr. Жыл бұрын
@SITENG thanks for the reply. In the US, a site engineer is totally different. Surveying is its own distinct field. You wouldn't typically see a site engineer doing that sort of work. More of a technical project manager focusing a specific project.
@SITENG
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
It depends on the project size really, as this is actually called a setting out engineer, but often site engineer is expected to do setting out duties. Site engineer typically deals with QA checks, material take-off/orders etc and tech stuff. On big jobs there are setting out engineers, site engineers, surveyors. Surveying is a distinct field too here
@wallyjr.
@wallyjr. Жыл бұрын
@SITENG ahhh I follow. That's interesting because in the US, a site engineer (also called project engineer) have certain duties (planning/logistics, estimating, admin, etc). Excluding utilizing surveying equipment (though they would need to be able to supervise surveying crews and read surveying drawings) it's the samething. Could you get a dual license for engineering and surveying because you have the experience doing the latter?
@SITENG
@SITENG Жыл бұрын
Not sure what license do you mean :)

Hi Mohammed! I am not sure about Canadian market and when do you think to start work, but here in UK there are loads of opportunities and great projects too (Hinkley point, HS2, many interesting high rises). Canada has to be great place to live too, but unfortunately I don't know too much about it and can't help.
