The fan on the side is a rotary screen to keep the dust and crap from blocking the rad and overheating.

Now it's out go and get the rest of the rear mount. Find one of the old guy welders around there and see if it can be repaired. That looked like it was part of the engine block but I may be mistaken. At least you know where everything is if a need arises. Combines are like forklifts, 12 pounds of crap in a 10 pound box. I hate working on them both. I'm glad you were able to lift it. It looked a bit touchy there for a bit. I think you have found the limit of your tractor...... LOL! Be safe and have fun. Terry from South Carolina

The piece that broke isn't part of the engine block. It will be fine.

@@HumbleAcres ok no worries. It's been a long time since I worked at that machine shop. Some Perkins had rear mounts cast in. I'm glad it's not though. That way if you need it you can pull it off and get it welded. I wish I was closer I would hook you up for free. Keep me in mind. Cheers Terry

It would be really cool if you could get that combine working and back in the field especially because it’s a low hour machine
@HumbleAcres2 жыл бұрын
Sorry no chance of that happening
@spencersand27542 жыл бұрын
@@HumbleAcres yeah now that the engine is out there is no chance of it happening but if it wasn’t locked up it would be worth fixing

It's a 354 Perkins motor it's about 100 hp

They also used that motor on some Massey tractors and in one Oliver tractor it was a 1850

What's it with farmers that just leave machinery in the paddock ?

I don’t know doesn’t make any sense to me

If that combine wasn’t one of Jordan’s Junkers when you started, it certainly is now. Will you try to scrap the rest?
@HumbleAcres2 жыл бұрын
Ya probably eventually.

I cannot speak from any experience with MF but I worked a farm with my Dad and found out that most places have an access cover the trick is to find that cover.

Looking at a parts diagram May have been useful

Ya if I cared about fixing the combine I would have been more careful.

So it savagable can fix it up

I wonder what the official procedure would have been to swap the engine back in the day, which I assume would have been possible without shredding the rear mount. But then again, maybe they just hoped the engine wouldn't blow completely before the rest of the combine?

Well in this case that was true

Those 6 cylinder perkins are bullet proof if looked after
