Still seeing a few comments on this after i addressed it. But to clear things up, I'm completely aware a picture of Full Throttle is shown when talking about Revolution. If you pay attention to the boarders you'll notice it belongs to a News network. This was the first reporting News network on scene and there was some confusion as they were only given "a white roller coaster with a loop in it." Since Full Throttle is extremely more noticeable then Revolution, this is probably why this mistake happened. So there isn't any more confusion NO ONE has ever died while riding Full Throttle.

Most accidents at ALL theme parks are not the parks fault, but the fault of the guest, but the park still assumes liability. Employees sometimes get overconfident on the rides they work on and take unnecessary risks which make up some of the other accidents, I know because I did...luckily nothing ever happened to me.

I met a guy that worked there when the girl crossing the Revolution was struck and killed. He was also part of the investigation. Sorry in advance for this... "She slipped/missed jumping across as the train was coming in. Once the train grabs the chain that brings it in the station there is extreme force. It's like hollow square like tube (similar a towel bar) that runs under the trains. We had to use high presser water to remove all the remaining matter from the hollow center, blowing out bone teeth and hair" ...I'll never forget that shit

Regarding the newlyweds on Eagle's Flight... I was working at the park when his happened, and heard this explanation, which made more sense than the 'rocking the bucket' story: That particular Eagle's Flight bucket had been loaned out to Universal Studios to be used in the Abominable Snowman episode of 'The 6 Million Dollar Man'. The bucket was returned AND PUT BACK ON LINE WITHOUT BEING CHECKED TO SEE IF IT HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH. The incident happened early that day, just after opening, on what would have been the first time that bucket had been used. The fact that it fell only fifty feet (it's a VERY tall ride) indicates that it fell VERY close to the departure point, during the steep climb portion of the ride, onto the concrete walkway. It is highly unlikely that these people -- newlyweds especially -- would start rocking the buckets just as they left the station.
@Spooky_Psyche
@Spooky_Psyche 7 жыл бұрын
Interesting. Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than the original explanation. A ride that can just plummet to the ground due to some rocking shouldn't even legally be allowed to operate anyway.
@socalpaul487
@socalpaul487 6 жыл бұрын
I worked there at that time & never heard that explanation. I've also talked to a long time mechanic from the park & he never said anything about that. It simply did not clamp back on to the cable before it left the station. They also extended the guide rails further out to prevent the possibility of any rocking of the buckets before they were locked on to the cable.

Thanks @dreemfinder for giving us this great historical perspective and what is arguably a more logical and probably FACTUAL BASIS for which this accident occurred. I'm certain this matter was NOT leaked to mainstream media at the time and was largely swept under the proverbial rug because it smacks of the theme parks' total lack of & adherence to effective safety protocols; as well as their utter complacency, their willful negligence and their complete culpability with regards to improper maintenance and the resulting death of these newlyweds!

The last time I went to six flags, I was 13 with my friend. We went on Tatsu for the last time before we left and when my seatbelt was put on it didn’t feel that tight. But this young woman next to me maybe 18-20 pushed it down to make it more snug. Idk why but it made me feel safe being by her and I’ll remember it forever. This was the last time I went before covid happened ☹︎

I live in the area around magic mountain, its a 20 - 10min drive so I go frequently. My friends and I were there in 2015. We were celebrating our graduation and we headed over to Revolution because we hadn't rode it yet. We started walking up to the entrance when we noticed workers weren't letting people in. We stood there in confusion wondering if we should ask how long the ride was going to stay closed for since it was open earlier when we saw the people working with the ambulance run in with the stretcher. We started to talk to each other in disbelief that someone passed out or died. We decided to leave the scene because out childish minds thought the person had gotten mutilated somehow and we didnt want to see the corpse being dragged out. Anyways, the rest of the day passed and being really immature we joked about with some friends we encountered on how we saw a person die on revolution and saw the ambulance workers come and take her corpse out, unknowing of the severity of the real incident. We were really disrespectful and I wish I never took part in the joking about it. Well the next day my friend was on the news and she saw that she had died. She ended up recording what they were saying on her cell phone and sent it to all of us. Needless to say we all were in shock and regret for the jokes we had made. The memory is fuzzy and I'm not really sure if it was a stretcher or not but it looked like one.

Original Magic Mountain logo depicted from 10:44-52, also the same one depicted on the hard-hat that my uncle wore when it was being constructed. He actually picked the site of Magic Mountain, named it, and was the first President there, where prior to that, he was one if the VP's at Seaworld. He was at Magic Mountain for the first couple of years, then moved on. He was also the 5th person to be hired by Disneyland Inc. in 1954, before Disneyland was built, and was the Park operations manager from 1956-61, before moving on th renovate Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio in 1961. I can quite easily document these facts!

Frankly it sounds like every time you hear about someone ejected from a coaster due to restraint failure, the unfortunate guest always complained about feeling unsafe but was reassured by an operator. I’m sure most operators have never dealt with a potential tragedy so they believe it to be safe. I think the message here is that if you’re feeling unsafe, just get off the ride regardless of the reassurance of the operator. They generally trust their rides and don’t foresee something so tragic happening.

I was told that she had intentionally ensured the lap bar wasn't secured. I have always wondered about the authenticity of the story. Thanks. Now I know the truth which sounds more plausible than what I was told decades ago. I appreciate this video clearing up all the myths out there.

Just a few more details on Cherie La Motte. She was a ride operator at the revolution station. When the ride arrives to the station, it makes a total stop at the entrance where it is not yet ready to unload and load passengers, when that occurs, sometimes the operators in order to cross the tracks they can do so with the train stopped at the entrance only, the signal to cross is holding up a fist so the operator on the controls can push pause so the train doesn't move into the station. Well when she tried to cross the tracks, she did lift her fist but not high enough for the operator to see, so the train went in, it startled her and she misstepped on the tracks causing her to fall in during the train rolling into the station. She had no time to get up from the tracks and was crushed. Now the signal to cross the tracks is holding both arms up above the head in a criss cross manner, they cannot cross until the operator says so on the loudspeaker. The track she crossed was a very thin platform so now they widened it for easier crossing. I should know , I was there when it happened, I worked as a security guard at the time. May she rest in peace.

I was a Ride Op at a Six Flags. Safety was our top priority. I would definitely let my kids ride any Six Flags, and I'd have complete confidence that they'd be in excellent hands. To keep guests out of restricted areas, I did call maintenance a couple of times to retrieve lost hats. No trains can be in motion while anyone is in the danger zone... the ride has to essentially be shut down until it's clear.

Most likely you got clipped by someone’s loose change or some other lose item from someone’s pocket. That’s why they tell people no loose articles. People don’t listen and wonder why they lose their keys, wallets, money etc and complain when they can’t get it back.

Very informative. Seems that story of people trying to get their hat is too frequent. Someone at California's Great America went to get a hat, they were struck by someone's leg (which broke) and the person getting the hat was decapitated.

The big Six Flags event that led to death was in my home state of NJ at Six Flags Great Adventure. In the 1980s, a haunted house attraction caught fire and led to the death of eight people. It is still the worst event to happen at an amusement park in terms of lives lost. However, there was a Japanese roller coaster accident that led to about 16 injuries and I believe 1 death, so there were tragedies that harmed more people, but the Haunted Castle fire at SFGAd was the worst in lives lost to ever happen at an amusement park.

I feel like when people see the title of this video we instantly think it's the rides fault or the parks fault however it's proved in this video that that's not the case. It's mostly the employees fault or the guest and theme parks shouldn't be judged by this.

Months before the closure of Deja Vu I almost died when the harness failed as soon as the ride started. Luckily my scream/other's screams to stop the ride got the attention of the operator fast enough and they were able to halt the train. The harness was locked in an open position and they couldn't get it to reset so they taped it up and let me ride in another seat. 3/4 of the people on the ride got off the train and it went as normal with no problems. I can't imagine how bad my death would have been if the harness failed during the initial drop or any other point of the ride given its intensity.. They gave me a nice cold bottle of water once I got off the ride though so that was nice. lol
@MattMcIrvin
@MattMcIrvin 6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... seems like the biggest problem would have been the vertical lifts. I don't think you can stay in the seat on those without the restraints. I recall hearing about an incident on Lake Compounce's Zoomerang in which a restraint popped open during the ride... but the rider just held it down manually and stayed in his seat. But the Zoomerang is a regular Boomerang, not a Giant Inverted Boomerang--there's no vertical lift, and no airtime; the g-force is always positive and (while I wouldn't recommend it) on a normal run you could probably ride the whole thing, including the inversions, with no restraint at all.

Great video.. all amusement parks/water parks are safe as long as u follow the rules. Now it is sad what happens at magic mountain before six flags owning it. Now stuff does happen beyond the park control but as far as people passing out the park has signs that says if u have certain conditions don’t ride. Those are there for a good reason

Wow that colossus incident tho, I’ve been on a ride and my thing was clicked but the light wasn’t on so they restarted the whole thing for putting shoulder restraints on and it was perfectly fine. Pearl Santos death on Goliath, I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain that day. I took two of my friends to magic mountain, ecstatic to ride Goliath, one of the newest rides at the time. Once we entered the park, we noticed the ride was shutdown, for unknown reasons. It was still early in the day, but a few hours later the ride was opened back up and we rushed to get on the ride before the line got too long. It was later that night when we got home, we seen on the news that someone had died on the Goliath ride... It was shocking to know the true reason why the ride was shut down temporarily that day.

I can tell you working security at six flags during 2012 the guy at hurricane harbor is mostly accurate except for one little detail. He was super drunk and that is why he ran up though everyone and he never stopped at the top he just kept going and he jumped down the slide then bounced off and down to the fence. He was so drunk the fall actually didnt phase him at all and actually kept running till security caught him and then went to the hospital after

But later that day we had an assembly and near the end of the assembly (it was a welcome back kinda assembly) the principal came on stage and showed a picture of jasmine on the screen and I was wondering why, he then said that she had passed away during the summer and didn’t explain how.
