It sucks because number 1 it should've been a good moment for Taker being that it was his first championship win and 2 he wasn't even able to celebrate it with his family because he and his family were probably worried it was going to be their last paycheck. That was super dirty by Hogan and definitely shows his character as a human.

I always wondered why Undertaker switched up his Tombstone when he came back in 1994. He used to do it over one shoulder and "trap" the opponent's arm nearest him and I personally loved that variation of it the most. In fact I'd scream at the TV as a kid about how Ted Dibiase's Underfaker wasn't real because his Tombstone was different.
@Gigadenza
@Gigadenza 2 ай бұрын
I think ultimately, it must’ve been for safety reasons. A conventional tombstone pile driver - which I remember first seeing Dave Fit Finley use on world of sport in the late 80s (check out 22:09 in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5OqZJVqr6jNiYE.htmlsi=syVqVFD8zXxxraeW) is always performed with the deliverer’s head between their opponents knees to ensure that weight is evenly born and allow the “receiver” as secure a grip as possible around the “giver’s” waste!! When lifting heavier athletes, this method also minimises the chance of the overbalancing when executing the manoeuvre, which could cause an injury to either. Having said that I do recall Taker, having performed at least one of his tombstones on Mark Henry using the riskier technique… which I guess is a testament to both his strength and the knowledge he’d accrued from around 20 more years of experience.
@theofficialgreenkane9645
@theofficialgreenkane9645 2 ай бұрын
I think it has to do with safety but also equal distribution of weight. Undertaker has more control like that. Also it’s sort’ve used like a measuring stick to ensure the opponents head never touches- As long as Takers face was visible, that meant their body & head were not too low, not too high.

@septv9995 in the long-run yes they were fine but in the short term yes I did feel bad for em because Hogan and Shawn both got their moments when they won the title and the person dropping it to em didn't bitch or make it hard for them so for them to make things hard for Undertaker and Steve was BS imo.

Undertaker was probably the safest wrestler to work with in the industry for the entire duration of Undertaker being there. There's a reason why he & Kane have been the only ones to have been given the green light to do the Tombstone Piledriver.

As far as bad tombstones go, I've always winced when watching the one he gave Kane in their Mania 14 match. Kane's way bigger than Koko, and his head hits the canvas and he absolutely crumples. It's pretty bad. That said, great clip- loving this show.

Hogan did A LOT to make the business what it is today. But at the same time he was such a bad person behind the scenes. With his whining and trying to bury others so he could stay on top. I have tons of respect for the man for what he did for the business but have barely any for who he is as a person. If that makes sense. lol. Taker on the other hand. In my opinion is the absolute greatest of all time. He was on top his entire career, yet never tried to bury anyone. Always tried to do what’s best for business, and will always have my respect and the respect of millions. Thank you Taker for all the great memories and moments

To be fair, the plan was for Hogan/Flair at WM8 (or Hogan/Sid depending on who you believe), so I don’t think there was ever any intention for Taker to stay champ for long. And Tuesday in Texas was an experiment that had been in the works, so I actually believe that what happened would’ve happened regardless of Hogan’s fake injury.

I will agree there my own thoughts were by the time Flair came in Vince is thinking I have the two biggest names in wrestling over tye last 10 years Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair at the same time. So I could see let's get the belt off Hogan in a controversial way, then hold the belt up at the Rumble, Flair wins the Rumble and belt, is now the champ but here comes Hogan challenging for the belt. That's my thoughts but from what I understand they had a series of house shows in late 91 and early 92 that never did well ticket wise so that's why Vince pivoted to another match.

Taker is the sort of guy i would buy a beer without hesitation if he said he was thirsty. It is absolutely crystal from both his in ring work and his interviews etc, that he has too much respect for himself and everyone else to be anything other than awesome! He has class, and a real gentleman is inside that deadman exterior facade that we see in ring, a true performer and gave his all. At least among my generation and doubtless many more, Taker will be remembered as one of, if not the greatest of all time, and i can say i bet he had a tremendously positive impact in the locker room in terms of setting a fine example to up and coming talent on how to conduct business correctly. I wish Taker, and indeed all my wrestling hero's that i did not name, a long and happy life with good health in retirement from the business. Your fans salute you! Thank you Taker.
