@williamsmith666 not understanding that when you're eight, seeing a dude like that sold like a live action superhero can create some magic moments. It's identical to all the joyless smarks who don't like hogan. Kids have always been a big part of the audience and guys like goldberg, hogan, ultimate warrior, and Cena don't have to be particularly competent wrestlers to still make magic. The lesnar comparison is also bizarre because he actually can really sell his style. Not everything has to be leglocks.

@RagnarokB
@RagnarokB 4 күн бұрын
I'd say it's way more complicated than that. It was more like a foul bukkakke where SO many people had a shot. Hogan, Bischoff, Shitstain, Nash, various Turner suits, and god knows who else blew their load all over the poor hooker called WCW until Jamie Kellner popped in to inform them that she's dead. Which is a long, gross way of saying that a LOT of people have their DNA all over the death of WCW.

People forget that Russo, even when he was “head writer,” didn’t book the main events for the WWF- that was Vince & Patterson exclusively. Great book, listened to the audio version of it. Siegel and his college dorm buddy were the ones that really signed the death warrant imo, they made sure Vinny Mac got WCW and noone else. It didn't matter how crazy it all got or how bad you made a person look or what twist happened., They were not coming back next week unlike wrestling if Ken Shamrock sleeps or fancies his own sister, it doesn't vanish that follows him around.

Guy Evans interviewed over 120 people who were directly involved with both Turner and WCW for the Nitro book, which is somewhere around 600 pages. It's not just a regurgitation of what was printed in the dirtsheets like the Death of WCW book by Alvarez and RD Reynolds. It's the story from the people who were actually there .

Because Guy Evans is the first person to write a story about Monday Nitro that included the Turner network executives. It’s actually a really simple reason why it was so successful. Because everybody else like your boy from the observer, Brian Alvarez, just buried the bookers for demise.you can’t just overlook the time Warner/Aol merger and then when the bubble popped. Are you shitting me?
