As a spectator of banger finals in the 70s Full of Granadas whilst mouldy old dough was being played on the warm up lap I never thought that over 50 yrs later Everything would be the same ?! Some of the cars are so battered that you're thinking there is absolutely no way that they're coming out again for another round of racing. Low and behold they come out and get around, an absolute testament at how good the mechanics are.

Something that's confused me about banger racing is the number of similar cars. It's always Granadas, XJs, Volvo 240/740, Merc E class, or Mondeo, Focus or Astras in the 2L. Why are those so ubiquitous and we never see other cars that were driven in droves like Toyota Avensis, Vectras, Civics, Almeras, 3 series, Passats, Octavias etc etc.?

How many Mk1 and Mk2 Granada's were there.
