You really should invest in some vacuum bags and a vacuum pump, you can add a gel coat then and really make those parts smooth. You also need a bigger shop, you out grew that place a year ago! You need some bench space man ;)

I really like how ground effect works without drastically changing the lines of the car. I was always curious, does the splitter have much effect on the air that passes above it into the engine compartment? Does it not become a bit of an airdam from more effectively catching air and having nowhere to send it?
@rockers2rockers616 Жыл бұрын
I always enjoy watching someone handbuild performance components for a vehicle. Especially when the component being made has a functional purpose AND is pleasing to the eye. Great video. You need to make yourself a large mobile work surface from plywood supported by carpenters 'Saw horse'. This will give your knees and back a rest. Nice work.

It's a pity that exhaust rear box hangs so low. I see there's loads of space above it. I reckon it would have been worth the guy having the pipe work refabbed to make that box much higher if he wanted maximum effect - the diffuser throat could have been a lot earlier on the panel if the exhaust wasn't sat there like that - and that big cutout disturbing the airflow could have been avoided
@hydorah3 жыл бұрын
What you've done is ace! So much better than the factory fake aero !
@ananonymoususer769311 ай бұрын
AFAIK factory mufflers are designed to be cooled by passing airflow, hence why they shouldn't be covered by any panels. even on sports cars they tend to have a cutout like he did for those areas.

Wanted to ask..always bugged me.. what happens to the air that's getting trapped behind-above the defuser ...i dont know CFD but i assume it would act as an parachute on higher speeds since there are no openings in the rear fender to release the trapped air..

why did you go with only 4 Splitters on the diffuser?. Would ther be a difference with more or less splitters?
@xfmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
They section the air. Without them the air wants to pile up towards the centerline of the car. Adding too many fins also slows the air down due to boundary layer effect. Generally 3 or 4 sections is considered good enough but it really depends on the shape and size of the diffusers

With this carbon fiber treatment, is it more cosmetic or does it do anything for the structure of the floor? Maybe makes it more rigid?
@azargelin3 жыл бұрын
I would say 0 structure, its supposed to make air go under the car faster which helps alot with down force

@@D3nn1s I’m thinking more of the fact that once he scans an RS3, machines out some moulds for the carbon fibre he can reliably produce great quality carbon fibre diffusers and splitters to sell. More than just the single custom piece.

@@sojevic ah yes thats obviously true! :)
@anomamos90953 жыл бұрын
The diff cooling duct is probably not going to work. If the factory duct forced cool air onto the diff from underneath then the duct you have made probably won’t do that. It will either draw air from the top or have zero air flow.
