@@snoozydonuts 100% Skate 2 is THE BEST EA Skate game. There’s no question about it. Heck, its the best skate game in general imo. The story, the map, the grit, the tricks, the menu, the soundtrack.. I mean it’s the perfect skateboarding game. I remember playing the demo, and I wore it out even tho it’s digital. Masterpiece. Such a damn shame they haven’t remastered that game for consoles. Really a damn shame. It’s not even available like skate 1 and 3. That’s the most annoying thing I can think of right now. I miss it

I cannot wait ! I’m super excited for this and I love all the small updates we’re getting as well as the board rooms. This is definitely something that hasn’t been done before in games and i look forward to play this as soon as you guys say we can!

There will be no offline mode. People will need to permanently financially support the game to keep it alive, like all free-to-play games.

It looks great! I have to admit that the characters body position always looks strange in the small transition skating. It’s something that’s always stood out. As humans ride small transition, they remain standing vertically. Yet, in so many games, the characters rotate to a horizontal position. In small transitions we rotate a bit but not usually a full 90 degrees. It’s like this in a lot of wallrides as well. Skaters meet the walls or transition by adjusting their legs to the verticality and their torsos stay more vertical. It seems small but when it’s done poorly it is blaring loud. When done well it can change a game completely. Sadly, it’s overlooked as the angle of the player character can affect if the gravitational physics are triggered in a lot of games. I.E. player character hits transition at high rate of speed launching them vertically in the air causing horizontal character model, trigger gravity. I can’t imagine the amount of programming that would need to be done to differentiate large and small transitions for the “carve” effect versus the whole player character rotating 90 degrees and just clinging to the wall against gravity. It’d have to include angular momentum physics to translate the defiance of gravity. Anyhow, I’m just rambling at this point. Keep doing what you’re doing! I look forward to playing Skate and seeing what you all create!

I remember games like Tony Hawk's PS3 games and even the newest 1+2 remaster taking that into account, with riding on steep transitions sideways only tilting your board but keeping your skater upwards. Though I don't know how much harder it'd be to implement it onto a game that's based on physics over one which mostly consists of baked animations.

Skate 100% lacks weight. They do this on purpose to make the game more accessible and more fun to play for the masses. With Skating simulators like Session or Skater XL, they also do this. Skater XL can be unbearable to play without mods to add the gravity and weight to the game. With that, those games are skating simulators. Skate is more of an arcade style skating game that is more accessible to the everyday person. In Skate 3 (I think it was 3) they did have a difficulty setting that changed the gravity and flips speed. All in all I hope they add that setting back into Skate. I will admit as a person he aged with skating games, I have moved away from the simple arcade style of craziness and enjoy the technical aspect of skating games. Not to say I won't indulge in the sillier things every now and then ha! @@ChapuleTaylor

@@terribleart6269 skate got more arcade style by the 3rd, which i never personally enjoyed. i LOVED hard mode on skate 3. made it so much more technical. i just want realistic skating in a sick map like the first game. the first games map is soooooo creative and fun. i also hope the people who like to do over the top stuff get what they want too. and from this trailer it looks like they are ticking both boxes. there was some nice technical slick skating shown and fun over the top stuff too. i cant wait.

@@agav2345 There were definitely tons of people who didn't do either of those things. Me and a few homies would hang at my place and skate around in single player til we found a sweet spot for a game of skate. Then we would just set a session marker and hand the controller off back and forth while we get fucked up all night lmao. I'd way rather play the new game either by myself or in a private lobby with my buddies. Get this Riders Republic type of BS out of here.

I just want a map that feels like an actual realistic city and an improved park editor mode where you can scale any object to be longer, wider, or taller instead of pre-set sizes. Also needs to let you put ramps through each other instead of only locking together. I still think the skate 1 map is undefeated as far as skateboard games goes.

Ok this is starting to look good!!! I’m a street sim guy, lots of promise! Needs some polishing but that’s expected PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE- give us a FULL stat menu so we can customize our stats to how we like to skate! That’s the only true way to cater to everyone (real life vs 1080 backflips off buildings).. Have like an “easy-normal-custom” option to cater to new players as well

I highly doubt they will have a full fledged stats menu like session, but they've always had different play style selector...so I'm sure there will be like "realistic mode" or whatever like the past games, which will suffice. But hey, if they can implement a full on stats menu, that would be great.

@@Siegefya they had “easy-medium-hardcore” for Skate 3 I believe.. It would make the game SO MUCH better if they just gave us a full menu, I don’t think it would be that hard esp if Session can do it with their tiny studio.. If you watch the last video they mention a custom stat like grind transition speed (it was something like that) and turning it on to see how the game plays.. I mean as devs they have to have this full menu and they tune each stat themselves to fit the “easy” category, then tune them all to fit the “hardcore” category, I can’t imagine it being very hard to just put that slider in the game for us to tune how we like Plus they liked this post- they’re listening!!!

@@realBongwater it’ll be between THPS and Session, always has been.. Meaning you can do the Hall of Meat arcade stuff if you want, or do realistic tricks and lines.. They’ve said numerous times they want the game to fit all play styles- a stat menu is the easiest way to do that.. If Session can do it- EA definitely can

But we gotta be honest here...I fw session, and skater XL for that matter...but this game is gonna be a lot bigger and more feature rich than both of those games for sure (hell the old skate games actually have more game than xl and session) so I think the real issue with a stats menu would be time, do they have time to fit something as extensive as that in, as you probably know...when building a game, implementing more features tend to break previous features, so for every one thing you want in the game you gotta go back and fix a bunch of other things. I'm honestly good with just the modes like they had in previous games that you mentioned. I play modded XL a lot, and tbh after I got my stats where I want them I haven't touched them in months probably...I just turn the game on and play.

One thing i’d love for Skate is to have a wider collection of modern-ish tricks that we didn’t have in skate 3, such as dolphin flips and impossibles. Front foot impossible would look incredibly sick and satisfying to do too imo

Hey Skate team, I feel the bail behavior would look and feel better if your character actively tried to avoid injury and sought stability via smart AI behavior mechanics. I’m imagining something like the endorphin physics engine you see in GTA. Awesome stuff. 🎉

YOOOO!!! Wow honestly this was incredible! The footplant off the food truck was sick, that's gonna make for some cool lines! And the coffin 180 to forward rolls looked super duper sickk. The flip speed on tricks will be sooo nice for realistic skating. I cannot wait to play this. I wonder if Cuz is going to wonder how we're going to break the game?

I've been connected to the insider program since it was announced and I still haven't had a chance to play. It's killing me slowly knowing that people are getting to rip in the early stages and I'm left just watching these short videos but good grief I just know I'm gonna put hundreds of hours into this when it comes out. P.S. I beg we soon get to the point of an open alpha/beta so I can stop being a sad lil man

I never knew how hard that game was until now but practicing so much in certain spots and hitting clips is so fun. Can’t wait to see what this new Skate brings. The only concern I'm having is the graphics. One thing I loved about the previous skate games is how grungy and dirty the city looked. It added a much more realistic feel and I really hope you guys add this.

Looking pretty good so far, I think a good balance has been struck in the accessibility of the movement/controls, and the realism (something some of these recent Skate inspired games haven't really dialed in yet). It's gonna be nice to see how she's looking when graphical features are implemented. But so far, really promising. I especially liked that wee pop of the sign onto that rail at about 0:31. Animations look really good too

To me that's what makes the series so fun. The other night I was on skate 3 and managed to climb a massive building in ale town by using large quarterpipes and long pipes with object dropper lol. Had to get speed for a gap that I wanted to do. I was ollieing off some huge, steep bank into a grind on a pretty far away planter that was like 8 feet higher than the takeoff ramp.

Never forget that the original Skate came out in 2007. Skate 2 in 2009. Skate 3 in 2010. It’s been over 13 years since skate 3 came out and with this being free to play. My hopes are at it’s lowest and I wish they scrap this game so they don’t ruin a great franchise with micro transactions.

They're treating this the best way they can, release dates aren't important because it's the development that is the key importance. Can't wait for the release! Please make this the best skate game possible!
