K but legit I was teaching in a hockey town in canada and the coach was giving 14 year olds smelling salts to pep them up at games! Hockey is super toxic here but they'll lose it on you if you even say that. They won't even so much as admit there is a single problem so the sport keeps having issues that get swept under the rug all over the place.

@rosered5485
@rosered5485 9 ай бұрын
@@sabrinabridge5212It's actually a fun story. The figure skater Yuzaru Hanyu LOVES Winnie the Pooh. He keeps a tissue box with a Winnie the Pooh cover with him when he goes to the rink. From what I understand, he was told that he couldn't bring the cover to the Olympic Games because of the character's copyright. Fans noticed and threw almost exclusively Winnie the Pooh toys onto the ice after his performance. It's happened ever since and Yuzaru Hanyu donates the toys that he doesn't want to keep to charities.
@AVspectre

Our local hockey team has an annual ‘teddy bear toss’ once a year. Once the first goal of that match is scored, everyone rains teddy bears and other stuffed animals 🧸 onto the ice. Volunteers hand out clear bags before the game for protecting the donations from the ice/damp. Push brooms (wide) are used to gather them into large piles and then they are loaded into trucks/carts to clear the ice. All toys are donated locally.

Sarya was so messed over. She was too “athletic” for a female skater. A backflip was her signature move, they called it illegal because they said you couldn’t land it on 1 foot (funny it was perfectly fine when that American guy did it years earlier). Anyway, she said “F” it, they are gonna mark me low no matter what I can do so I’m gonna do a back flip…and land it ON ONE FOOT! Mic drop of the decade that was.

Yeah it's because some people don't have a brain and would throw dumb stuff on the ice like candy. Right before I had to go on the ice someone thought it was a good idea to throw a bag of candy and it bork and splashed candy all over the ice. I also think it probably saved time in competition. I guess because it's an international competition it's a bit different and it looks cool with all the plushies on the ice.

@lindamaes6454 Жыл бұрын
@@ivy456 That was so inconsiderate, you must have lost all your focus on your routine when they did that, that wasn't a real figure skating fan. As you may noticed they are Winnie the pooh bears. This was the main reason why Yuzuru skated last in the short program most of the times, this slowed the competition down a lot. At the current Wold Championship in Japan fans can still bring presents for the skaters and hand them over at special fan desks at the ice rink following safety and covid regulations. My great uncle was the ice keeper at our ice rink where it was alway forbidden to take food or drinks on the ice but after a competition his zamboni ice chaving was colorfull.

That backflip wasn't illegal, it was only made illegal after she did it. One of the most blatant acts of racism in sports. They could've awarded her the points she deserved, then still made the move illegal afterwards (if it was really put in place to protect other skaters from trying the move and hurting themselves), but instead she got docked points for innovating and being better than everyone else (while black) Same thing black women in sports are still dealing with today.....

Are smelling salts not allowed?
@Yurito12

They are allowed but the fact that they had to do that shows that Anna should not have been performing in such a bad condition

Just curious, what does it help with and is it just regular salt?
@_kseniaa
@_kseniaa Жыл бұрын
@@runningmoonb It’s actually not salt, it’s a 10% ammonia solution. It’s widely used in Russia to keep from fainting. Anna was doing very bad so Eteri gave her that in order for her to not to lose consciousness. And yes Anna shouldn’t have had competed. She also had a fever above 38.5’C and problems breathing. She had Covid just before that comp.

@@_kseniaa thank you so much for explaining! Its terrible to know the details of it, but it's Eteri being Eteri I guess 🤦🏻‍♀️

@@runningmoonb take it for what it's worth, but it is widely reported, and what Anna told herself: her trainers and her parents tried to persuade her to withdraw, and it was she who insisted on competing.

None of these sound fake at all. By the way, when Surya Bonali did the backflip, it was NOT illegal yet, else she would have been disqualified. It was forbidden later on, since it was deemed too dangerous. Surya was the only girl who could do it without breaking her neck...

LOL that's doubly wrong. A this figure was made by lots of people (especially in ice shows it's courting). Two this was banned in 1976

@@arnaudaron-qp3mr It was not done by girls until Bonaly and Candeloro did it. In Ice shows it doesn't count, by the way. What they do is their business, and if they break their neck it's their own responsibility. It happened, fyi... But in competition, it was deemed dangerous and no other girl, before Surya, ever did it while it was still legal... and if it was legal, and it was not dangerous, why didn't they do it? And other question: if it was illegal during time when Surya did it, why wasn't she disqualified? Because she wasn't... logic
