I made my first pair of sandals basically as an experiment, to test out various designs and took them for test walks and adjusted them as time went along. Finally they lasted well enough to be taken on an 8 mile hike over rough ground, so I am fairly pleased. I did not use buckles at all, using sam browne studs to fasten them.

It's not brown, it looks like it because of leather. It's a special cement (glue) for leather.

My shoe-size is size 13-wide --- and it's near-impossible finding women's shoes that I can wear. Is making my own shoes an economically feasible way for me to solve this problem?
