In this short clip from Wounded Heroes [ @wounded_heroes_documentary ], an award-winning documentary film, Dr. Turabi explains to Michael Gier - the film’s director/producer - how/why his beliefs about the use of Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) to treat veterans experiencing post-traumatic stress (PTS) have changed following a U.S. Army-directed study, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH).

Preceding the commencement of a multi-site study on the effectiveness of (what was then) a new treatment for veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress symptoms, Dr. Ali Akber Turabi was definitely a skeptic. Nevertheless, he took part in the study - funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) - as one of the principal investigators. The discussion, here, with the film’s host/producer, Michael Gier, reveals how Turabi made a remarkable about face and is, now, an advocate for the featured “alternative treatment,” Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB).
SGB has evolved. After momentum slowly gained, and as clinical trials of SGB to treat PTSD ensued, Dr. Eugene Lipov discovered that two injections on one side of the neck into the stellate ganglion had the potential of yielding even better relief to folks suffering from PTSD. Today, his treatment protocol is known as Dual Sympathetic Reset (DSR).) [ dreugenelipov.com/dual-sympat... ].

FROM THE FILM's WEBSITE [ www.woundedheroesdocumentary.... ]: “Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) among our veterans is a serious problem with over 20 veterans a day taking their lives by suicide. And just like veterans; firefighters, police officers, and other first responders not only deal with PTS, but they also have very high suicide rates. Most are given prescription drugs but as many have said, medication is just a band-aid over a wound that will never heal. Our Heroes deserve more than just a band-aid and so director/producer Michael Gier went on a mission and found successful alternative treatments that give anyone battling PTS their lives back. Directed by Michael Gier and Produced by Gier Productions, this award winning film gives HOPE and literally saves lives.”

Why would anyone be skeptical since its psychological use from the 1930's? By all obvious accounts, calming the HPA Axis or Amygdala sounds like the cure for most neuroimmune issues, hence GI & Endocrine disruptors and the downstream effects on Parasympathetic "Rest & Digest" responses...... So why aren't Doctors discussing the Risks vs Potential to overall healing & medical implications? Glad your unwarranted skepticism is resolved, but WHY!? What systemic medical implications convinced you in the end? Relief? Or Something more substantial?
