This video is so amazing and super helpful! I'm a beginner oil painter and watching how you start your paintings is super helpful!! Loved it!!

I do a mineral spirit/paint blend to set up the painting and move things around to see what placement would look like. The mineral spirits dry pretty fast so I can start adding on more paint as I go and shaping the figure. I can move things around at this point since Im not too worried about details or even colors. Once my proportions look good, I can start blocking in the painting and making it all come together! So glad you liked the video!

@Anne Turner I spent around 20-25 hours on this painting so I'm not sure how that would be possible to upload. I'm still trying to figure out how to do more tutorial based videos so hopefully I can start sharing that sort of content more regularly. Thanks for watching
