Nice video! Best way to prevent cracks is following the rules of fat over lean. It's something I'm sure you are doing but when you talk about glazing using liquin or about diluting oil you could be misunderstood. Liquid is lean so is not suitable for glazing. Stand oil is suitable for glazing but diluted 50/50 with odorless mineral solvents makes it less fat and not suitable to use for the final layers. Again, I'm sure you know this but people who don't know it could misunderstand what you are saying.
@patriotmonkeyq22323 ай бұрын
Mix 1 part liquin and 3 parts paint very well before hand so the paint and liquin bonds properly. The way you're doing it, you're going to have a yellowed painting.
@patriotmonkeyq22323 ай бұрын
Yikes! You're using way too much liquin. Liquin will yellow if you're not using the right ratio of it and paint. 1 part liquin to 3 parts paint and you should have no problem. If you use too much your painting will yellow.

But they have passion and love for art (people like me). And people like you to teach them and suggest them for better artists and enjoy. with paintings. Thank you ❤️ Beau from the bottom of my hear🙏

Hi, how hard does this varnish dry? In other words, could you roll a canvas for shipping with this varnish applied?
@BeauBFrank4 ай бұрын
If you allow the piece to air dry a couple days you can touch it with your hands as long as you don’t apply pressure (which can leads to fingerprints). I roll and ship my large pieces but I lay plastic or glassine on top to protect the piece.

if you cant stand the smell of liquin, use gamblin galkyd....24 hr dry, levels out brush strokes and doesnt smell like liquin.

Please share a video where you show how you use the 2 liquin and standoil .share the proportion too. How much quantity do you mix into your colour and show a few strokes where you use only colours and the other with the mixture and paint .please...

I tried the lint roller and it left a thin uneven residue of adhesive on my work. Then the lint stuck to the adhesive and the varnish was repelled in those places. Nightmare.
@BeauBFrank7 ай бұрын
Hey there, sorry you had a rough time with your lint roller. I should have put out a disclaimer to make sure that lint roller isn't too sticky. I sometimes roll it over my shirt or pants a couple times to remove some of the stickiness if I find it too strong. Also if a painting has lots of texture or areas of the piece that have large clumps of paint that isn't fully dry it can lift it off if the stickiness is too strong! So sorry you had to go through this!

Had to close down after 30 min. You need to get a book called Precise selling. It teaches you have to say more with impact with less words and say Whats important, not what’s important to you, but to the reader. Not so much fluff that’s dragged out that leads you to log out. I doubt 10% of people, listened to this entire video, sorry but it’s a word of advice. It’s why in 4 yrs there’s only 1400 views and only 87 likes.

Thank you for making this video. I have been struggling for so long. I don’t like my job and want to do art full time but I’m bound by responsibilities at home and I think the resentment towards my job and the fact that I’m unable to switch to art has affected me in so many ways…even not improving in my skills. May be I need to be more grateful and work on how I can give time to improving my skills and being more patient with myself!

Not sure how I stumbled across your account, but I really appreciate the message you explain in this video! I recently quit my job to pursue art/illustration and don't think I could have done that job AND done art on the side (I tried... I was always "on the clock" mentally so it never resulted in creative work on the side). I appreciate the distinction you make between a job that energizes you (or at least leaves you with energy at the end) vs one that completely drains you. Thanks for sharing and glad I found this! :)

Hello I have shiny liquin pieces in my oil portrait and it looks not nice... how I can even it out with the other parts.? May help a whole only liquin glaze..? Cause with oilng it out with linseed oil the shiny liquin parts are still shining tooo much. Please any advice ❤
@BeauBFrank Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend using liquin as a way to unify the sheen. It's a medium that needs to be mixed with paint when applied. I suggest using a varnish on the painting once it is completely dry instead to unify the sheen. There are different variations of sheen varnishes if you want it matted or glossy! hope that helps

I'm a beginner in oil painting coming from watercolors and I have Cobra water mixable paint so it's easier to clean the brushes without the need of spirits. But I'm not sure if the Cobra medium is any good. Do you have experience with water mixable oils?

Really love this perspective, thank you so much for sharing. It’s nice to hear the idea of having a part time job as a blessing that supports your art rather than a time suck away from your art. It’s a mindset shift that I’ve been working through currently as I look to move from doing art full time as I currently do to taking on a part time job to release some of the burden on my art to make money.

Budget Tip: If you premixed your expensive old holland oil paint and liquin on a palette and you have a lot left over, store your palette in a freezer, it will keep a few days without drying (don't store it next to your food of course).

I'm so glad it helped you! It's important to recognize the struggle of balancing work with art but it's also important to recognize the benefits! Turning moments that look like they would be "against you" into "for you" is all about reframing and perspective! That time of my life being an artist while having a full-time job set me up for success for my full-time art career that I have now. I did art on the side for almost 6 years before jumping into it. I was able to use that time to save, invest and prepare for this new chapter!

I love your water paintings! I love this varnish , but my latest bottle got gummy? At the bottom of the bottle it is very dense…..I hate to throw it out, have you ever had this happen?
@BeauBFrank Жыл бұрын
If it wasn't sealed properly it's possible that it turned gummy. I haven't had this happen to me. Has shaking it helped to make it return back to normal otherwise it might be time to put it to rest. I usually buy smaller bottles of varnish/mediums for that exact reason. I'd rather go through fresh product then hold onto old product for years.
