You can easily copy objects in SketchUp. Once you've made one copy, you can choose to make that an array for many copies. www.sketchup.com/

I don't understand the nature of all of the comments that follow, but it was a wonderful service - as always. I couldn't hear the cello though. And thank you Claudia.

1:51 I have tried to create an internal array by watching your video and following the instructions but it does not do anything. I click on one of the edges of the shape I want to copy using the move tool, press crtrl and c and move the copy to the destination. Without clicking to place the copy, I type /11 and it does not do anything. It certainly does not create 11 copies and definitely not divided equally. What am I doing wrong?
@SketchUp6 жыл бұрын
You need to click to place the copy at the end of the intended array, then type /11 and Enter. That will give you an array!

In Pro 18 I only see a distance box not length in the move tool. I type in an x or / for an array and I get an error. How do I show the length box?

You forget to press ctrl key to make copy. You probably already find solution, but maybe others find this hint helpful.

what is a modifier key?
@refusoagaino68248 жыл бұрын
+Harold Westrich A modifier key is any key you can use along with a tool, like the Eraser tool. Using the modifier key 'shift' for example when you erase something won't erase it, it will soften the edge.

Ugh.... The circular array sucks. Is there an easy way that sketchup can take an number of copies and put it in a 360 degree circle so that i wont have to calculate any of the angles?
@YOURMOMxo69xo9 жыл бұрын
Never mind, figured it out... Still kind of crappy that when I do an array over 360 degrees that I have to go back in and delete the extra component.
@Stark817668 жыл бұрын
+Luke AOD LOL!!! You want Autocad, I KNOW exactly what you are looking for and autocad is the tool for you. it automatically sets the degree by how many you want within your circle. No joke, it's really that easy.

This is going backwards in software. Autocad is sooo much easier to perform these actions. simply type 'arraypolar' select your item, press enter, select your central pivot point and type in the number of items you want in that array, it's a beautiful tool. no copying, no dragging to where you want. NONE of that. I'm trying out Solidworks 2016. This software package is so much harder to use vs autocad.

Stick with it, I went through the same thing and still do. Wait until you try the 'Solid' tools that come with Sketchup Pro. But once it works, stand back it only gets better. It's almost like a musical instrument in that you only need to know a few chords to make music, but you can strive for anything. I used AutoCad for personal drafting as a contractor for a decade, but was never good at it. I'd just draft what I needed, and didn't have or spend enough time to learn it properly. I moved to Chief Architect because it had 3D capability, was a lot cheaper, and also did what I wanted to do in AutoCad more easily anyway. Then came Sketchup and I threw all that stuff away. AutoCad is pyramidal structure. It starts at the bottom where everything is defined, put together and named and used to build the next piece, but is ultimately limited to what is in the library. Sketchup starts with the finished product, and then gives you the tools to reverse engineer it. That sounds like a strange thing to say but an example would be; Using AutoCad, I used to design a house by laying out floor plans, and extrapolating the rest to see what you get. To change things you go back to the floor plan. Using Sketchup I can start with boxes, representing volumes of space. I can drop in furniture groupings and then examine the items as they would be on the site, especially for light and other thermal characteristics without ever entering any dimensions. Although a few pieces are sized to maintain scale. Before getting down to specific room dimensions, or having to commit to other defining and confining rules.

I can fly in wire frame. wish there was an 'easy' way to simply highlight object and type 'create solid' and wala all done. but no. not yet.
