Which Andorran ski resort is right for you? This video may help you to decide.
Ski Andorra consists of these resorts:
Grandvalira: Encamp, Canillo, el Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa.
Vallnord: Ordino Arcalís, PAL and Arinsal
This video took me two whole days to edit and so glad I finished it phewwwww, I do hope y’all enjoy it, find the information in the video useful and y’all do please give it a like plus subscribe. Thanks a bunch!
On this review video, I did cover a lot of things except where to stay. The reason being is that I did go over hotels in each area in my last Andorran ski resort videos but this time, I find that most of the hotels are built around the gondolas or chairlifts, perhaps some are more walking distance than others but they are in the vincinity of the ski resorts. Well, if y’all are staying in a full blown ski resort towns of course.
Montané is a good hotel to stay in during ski season as it’s right in front of the Gondola. Ushuaia and Patagonia are also excellent as they are right next to the chairlift station with a huge parking.
Rutlán and Magic hotels are right in front of the Telecabina station in la Massana. Google map is pretty reliable to tell y’all the distances between hotels and gondolas, telecabinas and chairlift…
Also, I didn't mention that there is mushing (dog sleigh), snow mobil ride, cross country skiing, snow shoes tour, randonnée and among other snow activities that we could do and not just skiing. Sunbathing and Lunch up one of the restaurants up the mountains or shopping, for example, does that count?

@jkjsg Hi! I'm glad you loved the video and I'm sorry for not putting the names of the resorts in the subtitle. Here they are in the order according to the video and I hope it helps somehow: Grandvalira: Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa. Then the video continues with Ordino Arcalís, Arinsal and Pal. These three ski areas pass through the major town of La Massana. The chairlifts look very outdated compared with resorts in the Alpes - only 4-seater without windprotection. Would like to know if Granvalira and the other resorts have any plans of modernising their lifts anytime soon.

@acw1956 Hi! You’re right about the chairlifts are old comparing to the state of the art chairlifts at some of the ski resorts in the Alpes, however, here it’s not as cold as in the Alpes plus they work perfectly fine with security bars and all. There are plenty of 6 man chairlifts throughout all Andorran resorts, the 4 man chairlifts are normally for going up shorter distances smaller slopes, 6 man chairlifts are for the long haul. Have you seen the chairlifts in the US ski resorts? Many are old and dilapidated with no security bars. Skiers would have to pay an arm and a leg to ski there meaning more than $200 a day just ski pass alone. They have just put in a new 6 man chairlifts in Arinsal to go up to the top of Arinsal replacing the drag lift. I call it the Mercedes Benz. The ski resorts management doesn’t communicate with the public what they do, so at the moment the chairlifts they got serve their main purpose. I suppose it would be very costly to replace these chairlifts as Grandvalira is the 22nd largest ski areas in the world. You get excellent value to ski in Andorra, cheap ski pass for all Andorran resorts or individually, food is cheap and delicious, not to mention cheap drinks (I don’t drink but I know). @@whatemmanuellesees Thanks for all the information, Emmanuelle. I‘m considering to relocate to Andorra from Switzerland and commute to Mallorca, where I also spend considerable time. So, skiing in wintertime would be an important factor of my decision for Andorra and your vids are really helpful in that regard. Keep up the good work!

Awesome video! How do you recommend one get to pas de la casa or to Andorra la vella from the barcelona airport? Also any specific restaurants you recommend or things to do in the winter other than ski and spa?

@EndothermiCamel Hello and thanks, I’m glad you liked the video. From Barcelona airport you can book Andbus to Andorra la Vella or they also offer a door to door service. Basic Andorra bus fare is about €50 one way (3hrs bus ride more or less). There are also private taxi or shared mini vans as well. You can book both online and in advance. Now, extra activities other than skiing and spa can be mushing, snowmobile both at Grau Roig, rollercoaster ride at Montmagic in Canillo or the amazing rollercoaster ride among other mountain attractions at Naturlandia but that is a long way from Pas de la Casa assuming that you’re are staying at Pas de la Casa. Restaurant: best restaurant in Pas de la Casa for lunch is Le Husky which I liked very much. Best and the number one restaurant in Andorra is El Crostó in Andorra la Vella. hello ! I really appreciate your videos , thanks ! im going to Andorra next month and im going to stay in La Massana and I planing to ski in Grand valira. Do u recommend me to rent na car in Andorra or I can make it with the busses? is my firts time in Andorra so I would appreciate your help ! :)

@ricar VI Hi, I’m glad you appreciate my ski videos, thanks 😉 To answer your questions, may I ask how long you are staying in Andorra? If you are staying for a few days then my suggestion is to rent an Andorran car if you’re staying in La Massana and planning to ski in Grandvalira. If your stay is lengthy then buses can work though they might take out a big chunk of your skiing time waiting for the bus there and back. From La Massana to the town of Encamp, which is the first ski resort with cable car up to Grandvalira ski areas, is not far. But after that it’s quite a ride to the next ski resort which is Canillo then el Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig, Pas de la Casa. May I ask why you want to ski at Grandvalira but stay at La Massana? Usually people stay at La Massana ski at Pal, Arinsal and Ordino Arcalís. Grandvalira is in a totally separate valley, but it is possible with public transport but more convenient if you have a car. Of course, La Massana is a good ski resort/town to stay for après-ski. Canillo is a better ski resort/village to stay than staying at La Massana when you are skiing at Grandvalira. Do you move to Andorra in the winter season? Easy process?

@joaocalapez3878 Hi João! If you are coming just to ski ⛷️ then you are allowed to stay 3 months. The residency process is lengthy and costly with many requirements but it can be done though not just for ski season but for work period, long term or digital nomad residency. Too many details to talk about it here.

@@whatemmanuellesees Me and my partner are going every year to ski, but the thought of moving there during the winter made us think about that possibility. I'm a forever remote, but she is a nurse, we couldn't be there for that kind of period without working, it would burn our finances. After writing my first comment I went digging a bit, and realized that we have priority since we live within the Iberian peninsula, any thoughts about this? Ps: will be watching your channel again this year to be updated on the snow conditions :p
