This video covers all ski sectors in Andorra from Arinsal, Pal, Arcalís to Encamp, Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig to lastly Pas de la Casa. Andorra offers almost 300 kilometers of runs all together and I've skied at all of them so this is a review of all ski resorts in Andorra.
Arinsal is great for beginners as it's a small area with shorter runs very easy for beginners to practice their technics until they are sure they could so up to other runs a bit higher up with longer runs then practice some more. Once they dominate their technics and ready to move to intermediate level then Grandvalira is next as Grandvalira is a massive area with much longer runs, longer on the chairlift to get to a run, easier to get lost. So for beginners I do recommend Arinsal.
I will ski in Andorra this 2022 and 2023 season so be on the look out for my weekly ski and snow review.
Here is the link to my video covering only Pas de la Casa as mentioned in this video:

Hello Emmanuelle! Congratulations on the video so rich in information! I just missed the instructions for purchasing tickets. Our interest is in the Arinsal-Pal area. Is the ticket the same as the one purchased on the Grandvalira website? A video that covered parking logistics, equipment rentals, etc. would be interesting! Thank you for the informations!

@Marcelo Cunha Hi Marcelo! Thank you very much for your comment of appreciation and I’m so glad that you found the video informative. Concerning the purchasing of the ski pass, you can purchase your ski pass online or on the same day at the ticket counter where you ski. I have friends who purchased the ski passes in the morning at the ticket window before they go up the slopes. If y’all are interested in only Arinsal and Pal then there is a ski pass only for Arinsal-Pal-Arcalís (you will also get a day or two to ski at Grandvalira with this ski pass, check with them). The ski pass for Pal, Arinsal, Ordino Arcalís is called NORD PASS and yes y’all can purchase it on the website (at least the last time I checked for a friend at the beginning of the season). Parking at Arinsal is easy as there are two huge parkings right by the gondola, big parking at the chairlift Josep Serra chairlift to go up the ski station at Arinsal instead of going up the gondola at the middle of Arinsal village. Y’all can also drive all the way up to the top parking where the ski station is instead of parking at Josep Serra chairlift, just keep going and follow the one road up instead of parking at Josep Serra chairlift (there are two big hotels at the Josep Serra parking: Patagonia and Ushuaia. You shouldn’t have any trouble with circulating around Arinsal and there’s only one road up all the way to the top ski station and same road down so y’all can’t get lost. Y’all can even take the cable car down to Pal ski areas by going up chairlift to the very top of Arinsal, so there’s no need to drive to Pal but y’all can also drive to Pal from Arinsal if the cable car is not working for one reason or another. There is a big parking at Pal main ski station and smaller parkings at Cubil chairlift and Coll de la Botella chairlift. I will try to do a video or include the logistic in my future snow report videos. Though, I usually included the driving up to the ski station bits in most of my uploaded snow report videos, at the very start of the video. Are y’all coming to Arinsal/Pal for 2024/2025 ski season? Concerning equipment rentals, I had a good experience with Pic Negra up at Arinsal ski report, renting skis for my friend for a few days. I will get some information from Pic Negra for you and put it up in my snow report video as well. I know a few people who booked their ski vacation through certain agencies, they get equipments and lunch vouchers as well but I don’t know the details. Just to let y’all know that there’s that option. Having written all this information, I will try to include everything in my future videos. Hope the above information helps, do let me know if y’all have any other questions and happy skiing Marcelo ❄️⛷️💃🏻

Is there any possibility of you making a video about the ski towns in Andorra? And just asking in general about your experience: -are there telecabinas/gondolas from the towns? Which ones? -Is there necessities like farmacies, veterinaries, bakeries, public transport, people, etc.? -Pricing -Shops nearby? Thank you very much!!

@dragthedog Hi Drag the Dog! I’d love to video each Andorran ski towns as I think it would be very interesting though I have to find the time to video them, I was just thinking about them just to add to the two ski resorts that I’ve already done, one is Pas de la Casa and the other one is Arinsal. Now that I have a request, I will definitely video them. Here is a brief reply to sum up a few of your questions: La Massana is a decent town with a cable car 🚠 going up to Pal ski resort, from Pal you can cross over with ski at Arinsal resort by another 🚠 or vice versa. In order to go to Pal, Arinsal and Ordino (Arcalís ski station) you must go through La Massana, you will see a short video of it tomorrow just to get an idea (I happened to be in La Massana this afternoon after skiing and made a video of the rush hour) and this town has everything from businesses to residential buildings and houses. Encamp is another big dormitory town for Andorra La Vella with a Funicamp 🚠 that goes up to the ski station then y’all would be skiing in Grandvalira. Nothing much going on in this town as far as I know. Then there’s Canillo, another full blown town with access up to Grandvalira ski area, again this town is similar to La Massana. If y’all keep going pass Canillo then y’all will get to el Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig then Pas de La Casa, they are all just ski resorts (chairlifts by the hotels) with the exception of Pas de La Casa another ski resort town with loads of shops and lively après-ski life, people who live there permanently are mostly workers as this town is the end of the road for this tiny country. Most expats live in their own community in a way, it depend if y’all are coming into Andorra to work or to retire as well. Working people tend to live where it’s convenient for them to get to work, retired people tend to choose where they have the best views…at least that’s what I understand. Now, I assume that y’all have already been to Andorra La Vella the main town and other towns after crossing the Spanish border entering into Andorra. If not, do let me know. There are public buses even free buses to go up to Arinsal, Pal and Arcalís ski stations. Basically Andorra has everything you could think of plus skiing and hiking. Things cost a bit more as everything has to be imported in but hiking up the mountains is free, ski passes are cheap. Clean mountain air, clean water and streets, safe, well maintained and organized little country. Maybe busy during rush hours especially at the end of the day during ski season as there’s only one way in and out of each town. A lot of workers comes from Spain, Portugal and South America so Spanish is widely used as a common language but Catalan and French are the languages especially French in Pas de la Casa. Big English spoken community. Email me if y’all have other questions that I may be of help. Take care and Happy Skiing ⛷️

Great Video! What about getting stuck at one end of Grandvalira? Say going from Encamp to Canillo after the lifts close. Is there a shuttle bus?
@whatemmanuellesees
@whatemmanuellesees Жыл бұрын
Hi Daniel! Happy New Year 🎆 Yes there are ski buses (free) and normal buses (not free) but I recommend you check out the bus schedule before getting stuck somewhere. It’s unlikely that you would be stuck at one ski area as they are very well connected (when the snow conditions are good and all runs are open). Another option is taxi, Andorra is a tiny country so the distance from one place to another is not great, I’ve seen people going up/down the ski station by taxi. Plus, the hotels also provide transportation to ski stations like Anyòs Park Hotel for example. Happy skiing ⛷️

Would you recommend this over the French Alps?
@whatemmanuellesees
@whatemmanuellesees Жыл бұрын
Hi Mathew! French Alps in general? It’s really difficult to compare the two, I say this because there are small numbers of resorts in Andorra and literally there are hundreds of French resorts. For example, La Grand Bornand is far smaller than Grandvalira and the three valleys are much bigger than Pal. If I were to generalize the lift infrastructure in France tends to be newer than in Andorra. The pisting in Andorra is as least as good as in France. Après Ski is better in Andorra. French and Andorran ski resorts are soulless compared to Italian, Switzerland and Austrian resorts. One thing that is inarguably true is in term of value, Andorra offers better value without compromising the size or quality of the ski area. A family of 4 would spend half of what they would spend in the French Alps. This season, there are a lot of British Skiers who used to ski at the French Alps are now skiing in Andorra. It depends on what you are looking for and your level plus taking into account the snow conditions with this year is better in Andorra than in the French Alps. Hope this helps for you to decide where you will want to ski ⛷️ Happy Skiing ⛷️

Great! I’m glad the video helped 😇 Pas de la Casa is good as you will be in a town that has everything plus very lively ski resort but most importantly you will be able to ski in all sectors of Grandvalira, this year they are adding more runs so it will be more than 200 kilometers of runs. Unfortunately, I can’t change the background music of any last year video but I will try to find something for my ski videos of this coming season, are you from the Basque country? I’ve been there and loved it 😊

Not impressed with ski shop boot fitting, the so called expert doesn't know how to do up your boots correctly. Toe buckles should be the last and fastened lightly to stop snow ingress only. It should always be ankle buckle first, then the top buckle. then finally toes buckles.
