Do you guys have a ongoing record of shaft lengths for particular boats? I figured I would see if perhaps my 1997 Sanger DLX has already been on record for shaft length.

We do, BUT boat builders typically have +1/2" and - 1/2" length shafts for when the engine setter sets the engine a bit too far ahead or behind where it is suppose to go, therefor we prefer to get accurate dimensions before shipping a shaft that may be too long/short. Measure twice cut once.

Hi Ron I just bought a brand new wake boat and noticed I only have 3/8’s between the prop and the strut and noticed the key holding the prop is rubbing the strut. Would that be because it has a short shaft? What would you recommend I do

Spider Cracks are generally cosmetic only, but to properly repair them you have to address the cause. Next issue is gel coat color matching, after that it is kind of like what a dentist does for a cavity, grind out the bad, and fill with new gelocat, and try to minimize the repair area. Hey Ron great videos , I was reading through one my handouts I got in trade school and it stated between the prop and the strut the distance should be 50% of the prop shaft diameter. If your off a 1/4 inch or so does it really change much?

Using your method a 1" shaft would have a 1/2" gap between the prop hub and strut. I recommend for both 1" and 1.125" shafts 3/4" gap with 1" being the MAX and 1/2" being the MIN allowable limits, anything less than 1/2" will prevent a typical prop puller from fitting without loosening the coupling. A new installation with a 3/4" gap will actually loose a little of this gap (up to 1/8") with motor mount break-in.....RonT

I only have .250 between prop and strut.

That will work but not desired, to remove prop you will need to disconnect the couplings to slide the shaft back enough to get the prop puller in there.
