Over flexing puts weight back taking you out of your "cone of probability" you will have fun. Javelin turns are more for initiating weight transfer and steering moves. The tip cross due to early weight transfere then steering the uphill ski to cross under the downhill ski. Michaela Shiffrin has a video showing well executed Javelins.

Am I the only one who notices that he leaves his left arm behind?
@godin8262
@godin8262 3 жыл бұрын
There is noting wrong with that as long the upper body and the center of body (Hip joint) are place properly... The problem with that for a lot of skier is that when the arm get back the rest of there body over rotate, with him everything stay well aligned and in place that's why I don't see and issues with that. You will see a lot of world cup skier with there inside hands going back.

0:13 This is what skiing is all about. He is looking, facing where he wants to go while he is balancing on the inside edge of his outside ski. 0:17 When he decides where to make his next turn he thinks, "I want to go straight down the hill, plant my right pole down the hill, stop my entire upper body from crossing the hill and lean it down the hill while I get off my right foot and balance on my uphill foot arch." Watch his leg angle change when he does that. THAT, is what rolls your feet over, not thinking about rolling your angles over. You ski from your eyes and brain down, not from your feet up. What happens at your feet is a result of where you place your upper body and when you change your weight when you decide to make the next turn. 0:38 This is absolutely Not where and how you collapse your legs to transfer weight from your downhill to your uphill foot. You do it either on a very steep slope or a bump so that your skis stay glued to the snow where an up motion will reduce traction and the bending force on the skis. Also, you do it when your skis are crossing the hill and your body is falling down the hill so your knees don't hit you in the gut and so your legs will lean over to change the edges. 0:20 At the very point you want the skis to start the turn, let your knees come up instead of your upper body and drive your kneecaps down the fall line. When your skis are crossing the hill, just think about driving your knees and entire upper body down the hill and change the weight to the uphill ski. It will Feel like you are pushing yourself down the hill against that uphill arch. 1:16 If you want to destroy the cartilage and ligaments in your knees, then do this. Otherwise, move your hips and upper body in the opposite direction of the skis to make your entire leg lean over. He doesn't ski like that so why is he teaching it to you? 1:22 He is dropping his hip to the sides to angle his legs just like I said. 1:34 Does it look like his left leg is bent sideways at the knee or is that leg straight?
