Welcome to the Sunnyside of the Val Gardena.
It's Tuesday 7th December 2021, 3 days after the reopening of skiing and this is the Fermeda piste but most people call it Seceda.
We’re following Louise who is taking the lead followed by Derek, both ski leaders with Inspired ITALY - inspireditaly.com/ - down this 6km slope with around 1,000m vertical. It's classified red and blue and finishes just above Santa Cristina at 1,500m ASL which is the middle village of Val Gardena. www.gardenissima.eu/en/home.html
This run is beautiful!
Late in the season, this piste plays host to the worlds longest giant slalom race called Gardenissima. I’ll put a link in the description below.
Hutte on Fermeda

Baita Cuca with the music

Baita Pramulin Hutte
Altitude from 2,500m ASL to S. Cristina 1,500m
Lifts Fermeda 4 man open chair - 1,900m with a vertical drop 450m

Been here all day with lovely weather. With access to all the other parts of sella Ronda, i decide to Stay here because the slopes are wide and not that crowded and its a great area to make progress even if you are a pro. Plus the sun shines here all day and the sunset is amazing!!! And its a good way to finish the day on La Longia.

i suppose it’s a bit of a journey from val gardena but have you tried “ le cinque torri”? it’s close to lagazuoi to the east of san cassiano, it has one of my favorite slopes and i think anyone would love it

We ❤️ 5 Torri and the new bubble that links with Tofana makes it even more appealing. My favourite run is from Rif Averau down to Bai da Dones.

That entirely depends upon your prefered style of skiing. The Sella Ronda is easy to ski. A good intermediate skier should take around 3h to 4h. Arabba offers more challenging skiing. Alta Badia rolling skiing. Val Gardena and Alpe di Siusi has a variety of skiing. Canazei provides good access to the Sella Ronda and a few outlying areas that we love - Carezza, Passo San Pellegrino, Vigo and Luisa for example. Most people would go to Corvara or Colfosco. Me, I would go to Pozza di Fassa but that's because I know where I am going. Please feel free to visit our website and message us if you'd like to chat.

@@InspiredITALY thanks for replying so quickly. I have organised a group of 10 mixed ability skiers, we where going to france, but now trying to come up with an alternative. I was planning to do the Dolomites next year, last year I was in Gressoney doing an off piste course and did a days heli skiing, but I’m not interested in doing like that but would love the option to do some off piste within the resort. Ideally I’d like to be centrally located, Where would you suggest
@InspiredITALY
@InspiredITALY 2 жыл бұрын
@@Adywebb123 Centrally located: Corvara, Colfosco or San Cassiano. Selva Gardena is a great favourite with the Brits too. 2nd choice: Arabba, Canazei or La Villa.

Hello , great video! i'm torn on where to base myself for a week of skiing in the Dolomites, Feb 25 to March 4, 2022. Arabba or Val Gardena or Alta Badia or Cortina d'Ampezzo?? I'm an advanced beginner looking to take ski lessons & improve my skills. Travelling alone, on a mid-range €300/ day budget (hotel + ski pass/ lessons/ rentals) & would like to pick a ski town that's centrally located. Your help is highly appreciated!

i’ve been to all these places, i can tell you val gardena and cortina are probably the most popular places, the villages are also bigger than the others, very touristic. but if you’re looking for the best skiing place i’d say arabba, beautiful, anyway you can access all the places you mentioned from all the places you mentioned, that’s what’s special in italy

Hi Susan, not sure how I missed this comment - sorry! Innsbruck! From there you can take a private taxi, take the bus the short ride to the station and take the train to Ponte Gardena, then either take the bus or a taxi. When are you planning on being here? Happy to help further if we can My@Inspireditlay.com

@@InspiredITALY thanks for reply. I wld be flying from Ireland, but no flights to Innsbruck from my nearest airport, only Salzburg. Anyway I thought maybe I'd have to fly to some airport in Italy to get to Val Gardena. We've been to Zell am See for skiing a couple of times, but never in Italy yet, at least not for skiing. Just not sure how to get there. One of my sons is living in Vienna. He might join from there. End of Feb wld be nice. Living in hope , 🙂
