The art of making pottery has remained largely unchanged for thousands of years. Even today, if you visit the Middle East, you'll find potters molding clay who come from families that have been potters as far back as they can trace. And that art has been handed down generation to generation - the same skill practiced the same way. When pottery is made, a potter will take a lifeless lump of clay, knead it, and squeeze it until it's soft and pliable. And when the clay is just right, the potter takes the clay and throws it on the spinning wheel he operates with a foot pedal. As the clay is placed on that wheel, the potter's hands begin to press and push the moldable clay into a shaped container. And that clay that was once an ugly lump becomes a beautiful piece of pottery. It took shaping and molding, but the potter transformed what was ugly into something beautiful. What an amazing picture the Scripture paints here of us being shaped by the hands of God, our Potter, who shapes us into a greater likeness of His Son. It might be a tough process, but trust in the Potter that His hands are skilled and will shape you exactly how He wants you!

Archeologists discovered that when ancient Egyptions turned clay it actually recorded sounds in the clay. In 1,000 years someone will hear sounds from this artist's pottery. I wonder what wonderful sounds they will hear from such beautiful pottery.

In the first 1 to 2 minutes of the video it shows the worker letting out clay mix into the holding tank. I see there is a second holding tank that the water can flow into. Is this second area where the best clay is harvested from? Do you get good clay out of the first area too or is it all gritty and full of impurities? I'd love to see a video specifically showing how clay is made with this method and how long it takes to sun dry?
