One of the great things about Skil saws....they are 100% user serviceable; which is why you’re able to pass them down from generation to generation. Also, parts are readily available as well, you don’t need to go hunting for parts, as you can find 99.99% of the parts anywhere they sell the saws. Heck, you just basically did a full tear down in this vid, cuz it’s THAT easy😁 Super great vid Vince & Nick✌🏼

@@VCGConstruction A video on voltage drop would be a good idea. I run across guys all the time that have no idea what it means or how to determine the correct cord to buy. I totally understand going into a tool store and picking up a 100 foot cord by price only. But you get what you pay for. True, this is mentioned in the tool's manual but real men don't read instructions.

I’m planning a visit state side soon and plan on buying one even if I have to post it home. I noticed in another post below it’s a bad idea to run it of an extension cord so is replacing the cord that comes with the saw for a much longer one the answer? Cheers

Yes how do you check the bearings? Just bought my first skill saw from a pawn shop. It is older than yours, is a monster and runs well! However, I have no idea how many hours it’s worked nor what kind of treatment it was given. It’s definitely been around the block a few times considering it’s looks, for sure. I’m very proud to own it. Noone better touch it! LOL Thanks L

After nearly 2 weeks of research--because I don't like buying things without researching the crap out--I purchased my first circular saw; a Skilsaw 7-1/4 In. Lightweight Mag worm drive. There's a feeling I have when I've finally found the one that checks all the boxes. This saw checks all the boxes and feel completely confident I bought myself the best circular saw for my needs for the money. That being said, I'm wondering there's a video about bearing service on this saw for future reference; expanding my knowledge to be prepared. I like to know as much as I can about these things because I always prefer to do my own service and repairs on my gear, whatever it is.

I was disappointed to find that my brand new saw came with a very low lube level. Afraid to cause damage to it, I waited for the lube to come in (special order) and filled it up. The manual is not specific about setting the saw on a table with the blade down. I assumed that I should hold it with the fill spout level, which meant holding that saw at an angle. That's also how I filled it. Did I potentially over-fill it?

Someone needs to check on RB and make sure he's not died and went to corded tool heaven after this here Video! Lol! Yo, it is my opinion that every carpenter should have at least one of the mag 77 skilsaw's. Skilsaw is the legendary saw that built America. We have several that still run flawlessly! Have had to replace brushes due to intermentent power loss. It was just carbon build up. But went ahead and threw them new brushes in. Like 2 min with cleaning the contacts up. Easy peasy. I gotta say, since I bought the company the flexy rear handle saws, and now the FUEL rear handle (my new favorite) we just don't use them skilsaw as often. Because we have so many batteries. It's a convenience thing. But the mag 77 was all we used for many and many of years. Personally I still have, and have used for many years, that same wormdrive skilsaw my dad used for years and years and years. He's Pretty sure his boss gave it to him when he was the foreman, before he went on his own into excavation. He doesn't remember unboxing anything so it was likely used. Lol! Seriously, The ol' skilsaw wormdrive is the flagship of all saws. It always will be. Idk about any of newest ones. Whether they are the same quality or not. But I know the quality from 10+ years ago in just unbelievable. Anyone reading this.... You see any wormdrive skilsaw at a garage sale, buy it. Keep it on the shelf if you think you'll never use it. Wait and see, when you do need it, make sure it has a good blade, and use that sucker for ripping some advantech or for cross cutting LVL'S. So comfortable, smooth, and line of sight is on point. Beast mode! Just like @VCG Construction is beast mode! 💪💪 Thanks for the awesome vid cuz! You da MAN! 👍

Does anyone know why its righty loosey, lefty tighty on wormdrives? The blade would loosen itself off the motor if it were righty tighty lefty loosey. This way when you use the saw the friction keeps the blade on tight!

He didn't finish the explanation of why a dull blade is more dangerous than a sharp blade....... A dull blade takes more effort to push through the material than a sharp blade. What happens when you get to the end of that cut? The material will split like a splittling wedge through a log and all the resistance that was on that dull blade is no longer there. What happens when you're putting maximum effort into cutting and all of a sudden there's no more resistance? That blade is now moving faster than you anticipated and it ain't gonna stop until it hits something hard. Most likely that'll be the bone in your finger. And cuts from dull blades always hurt and cause more damage than a super sharp blade simply because a dull blade rips flesh instead of slicing like a sharp blade.
