Skimboarding World Championships: Finals Day at The 44th Annual Vic!

2 жыл бұрынStarting with the Quarter Finals, riders are nocked out and narrowed down to the final two! And then there was Johnny Weber and Blair Conklin in the Finals! With such difficult conditions to skim in most heats were narrowly won by just a fraction of a point. It was very difficult to get a rideable wave that would give you the advantage over other riders. It was a game of inches and who was able to complete there ride back on to the beach. Congratulations to the winners of the Victoria Skimboards World Championships

Yeah, those waves were so small. I don't know the rules on calling off a skim contest for lack of waves, but that had to be close to those conditions.

Lol growing up in Cabo San Lucas back in the day and there was only one cement road downtown (1998) land ends skimboards homie those where the days hanging out with a Gang of Mexican homies little white boy just running a Muk in downtown Cabo fun as hell!!

I definitely feel Blair won that event. Johnny skimmed good but nowhere close to the level Blair skimmed at.

@@loc9588 idk Blair got way more waves going frontside and backside which is huge when it comes to judging skimboarding. Johnny had that epic air drop. Other than Johnny’s air drop I definitely would have gave Blair the W. Johnny rides for Victoria so you have to take into consideration there was a bias when their heats were being judged . I remember back in the year 2009 I skimboarded in my first amateur division contest at the age of 17 and won best trick and got second place in my division for landing a huge air drop off a wave like Johnny did! I was so stoked that day considering I was competing against guy’s that were a lot better than me and had way more experience!

I was there, as a semiprofessional skim boarder, john destroyed that heat. A couple of his waves weren’t in the video. Both did insane for what the waves were though.

I live on the east coast and kite surfing is big on Hatteras Island where I surf.Have you heard of anyone trying kite skim boarding?Maybe on small wave days.

Both were gnarly but based off the footage I saw I would have gave it to Blair. I know he does not but did Weber ride for Vic then? If so makes sense a close Vic contest the Vic team rider gets the nod. Yes the wave was good but I would go more with consistency and tech than one great ride but like I said I have only seen the video posted on Blair's channel so I can't say for sure

Not being there to see it in person and only judging by the edit, it appears there was a robbery at Aliso. Extortion also comes to mind, many saying "Webbers gorilla-like chassis and primate instincts" make this theory completely plausible and a big reason its gaining traction even outside of the monkey-drop community.😉😂🤙
