This is a true story about a girl from Kentucky

I shaved my head when my mom was undergoing MAX radiation therapy, and chemo that had to be stopped early because it almost killed her. The happy news?... she responded excellently to the treatments, her cancer, which was inoperable, shrank from the size and shape of a very large mandarin orange, to a small piece of dead scar tissue the size of a medium sized grape. She is gone now, but her cancer never came back... she died of simple 'old age', 14 years after her diagnosis, which docs gave her a rough timeline of MAYBE 4 years, since it couldn't just be removed. I thank God every day for that blessing. If you know someone with cancer, or, pray not, that you ever get it yourself... know that it's not the way it was years ago... treatments are successful much more often than in the past. My Mom was already stage four (final stage) when she was diagnosed, and went on to live her life to its true, natural end. I'm a Canadian, and our national Canadian Cancer Society has, for as long as I can remember, been..... "Cancer CAN be beaten", and we (the human race), are getting closer and closer to that becoming reality... already, some types of cancer are almost always curable if caught in time. If your wondering who/what to make your major yearly charitable donation to... might I suggest your local, or national cancer societies, who do more than just fund research, but also build inventories of wigs to match any hair color and style, fund or even host support groups, help caregivers, etc, etc. your money won't be wasted if you donate to a real, valid, cancer society. Wishing good health to all who read this, and all who never stumble across my faint words.🙏🏼 And, the happy ending to this song/story, is that her biggest dream, dancing with her true love without any cares came true. 👍🏼✌🏼🇨🇦

1st heard this between shows at a movie theater, over the PA; sat there trying to avoid *audibly* crying, and it was *not* easy! Years later, and it *still* gets me, every time! Check out (if you haven't) 'Broken Road' from Rascal Flatts!

When I was in third grade here in Sweden a girl in the parrallell class (She was in 3A and I an 3B) got leukemia. And when she was away for one of her treatments i did my fifth mouth surgery as i am born with cleft lip and palate. And we raced down the hallway with our weelchairs as she had one because she was weak after chemo and I had taken cartilage from my hip to make an impalnt for my jaw. Anyway a year later when we were in grade four we got to know that she was going to be fine and we drew pictures to send to her. Sadly we never got to send those pictures as she coaught pneumonia and as he body was so weak after the chemo she passed away. I visited her grave yesterday 27 years later while listening to this song. And I susually visit her grave when i am at the churchyard, even if it took me fifteen years to do it as I was destroyed by her death as she died in an enviroment I pretty much grew up in due to my cleft lip and complications from my first meningitis. I also spent some time at the children's cancer ward after my second shunt surgery when I was 14. I am today donating a small amount of my paycheck each month to the Swedish Childhood Cancer foundation.

My middle baby was dx with Leukemia a week after her 4th bday......we buried 5 of our hospital friends before she was 8...she almost lost the battle twice in the 3.5 yrs we fought......she is 19 now, in college....I remember her friends, their moms were my " 1oth floor friends at Dallas childrens.....it seems impossible ....you live with the relief ..and the guilt ....and the constant fear? I was 16 when I was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma this song when it came out my mom and I were driving down the highway and we had to pull over cuz the line about seeing the hair on the pillow reminded us about how one day we were in a hurry I had wet hair put it up under my wig when we came home she tried to help me tell me that but just about on my hair came out that day and we both bald like a baby and just kept hugging each other😢 and doing things like going to the prom help you still feel normal some way while you're going through all that.

I cry every time too.
