3 жыл бұрынThe Dallas Cowboys had hoped that they would be able to draft the first defensive player of the draft but their hopes were dashed as they saw both defensive backs Jaycee Horn and Skip’s guy Patrick Surtain taken with the two picks right before Dallas. Instead the Cowboys traded back to 12 with the Philadelphia Eagles and took linebacker Micah Parsons to help their run defense. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe share their thoughts on the Cowboys trading for Parsons.

Wrong!! Dallas played it well. The Broncos chose wrong and the Panthers chose wrong. Both have terrible seasons w/ terrible QBs. And neither took a QB when they should have.

To answer the question about trading within the division, this was a special case. NY & Philly were rivh behind Dallas & one of them was snatching D. Smith either way so it's not like that they "helped" a division rival in this case. Dallas would've had to deal with Smith either way.

I don’t think so skips football IQ has improved over the five years he’s been on the show with Shannon the only thing they couldn’t have done obviously was take a quarterback or receiver and they ended up going defense anyway so it worked out.

The Eagles-Cowboys trade is one of the few trades that seems to work well for both sides. Eagles got their receiver and the cowboys got the guy they probably would’ve taken at 10.

Both teams had major targets on their particular sides of the ball__ Every once in a while, we may hate each other's guts (lol) but when we have a " respectful common focus", as Skip said in this segment, "sometimes there can be honor amongst thieves"- and in this particular case, that's exactly the way it all turned out..!💯 After 2 seasons since this draft took place, I think it's safe to say we both got what we were hoping for from our selections👌👌_ With complete objectivity, I humbly say "Thank you Dallas for switching spots with us"..💯 Devonta has been FANTASTIC thus far!!😁😁🤝🤝👍👍🦅🦅

@@ThirdeyeXo no but he is the first qb ever to go 8-8 and not have a winning record with a top 5 oline, a top runningback, a top 10 defense and a great receiving crew. Prescott was 1-3 before getting hurt this way, and was the worst qb in the NFL statistically from quarters 1-3. Throwing 250-300 yards in garbage time did get the game close. But that defense and oline not being the same, is going to result in a losing record. I mean Dalton went 5-5 with all 5 olineman out.

@@johnortan1890 1. They did NOT have a top 10 defense. 2. Prescott was NOT the worst qb statistically in quarters 1-3, where did you get that from? "Garbage time" does not apply when its a one score game going into the fourth quarter, which happened EVERY game but the browns, who put up 50 on their terrible defense. If it was so easy to get garbage time stats, why isn't every qb racking up the yards when they are losing bad? Why hasn't their ever been another qb to be on pace for 6,000 yards?

The Cowboys got arguably the 3rd best player in the draft. It's week 5 in the NFL right now and Parsons is incredibly dynamic and will only get better. My only question is why the Giants decided to trade back rather than take him at #11. Or why the Bears traded up and didn't take him at the same spot.

So yes, they absolutely needed another linebacker, and they just happened to land arguably the best defensive player in this draft. Sucks they couldn't get horn or surtain, but they got a very solid corner in the second.

That trade was a masterclass by both the Eagles and the Cowboys. They both got who they wanted and Dallas ended up with an extra 3rd rd, but had Dallas not traded with the Eagles, the Giants would have taken Devonta or if they proceeded to trade back with the Bears, the Eagles would have ended up with Devonta and Dallas not have the extra 3rd rd.

It was smart to trade with the eagles. Devonta was going to either the eagles or the giants. The cowboys basically decided not to let the Giants have him and give him to the Eagles. The giants have a better offense then the eagles and getting Devonta would have made them the bigger threat then the eagles getting him.

I think the move to select Parsons all but ensures that if Jaylon Smith does not play up to par this season, he will get cut. They couldve saved 9M before the start of the league year if they did in March, but they decided in favor of him. Parsons can be that Bobby Wagner in this defense, with Neal and Wolf Hunter as the outside guys. I dont see a spot for Jaylon Smith long term since hes awful against the run and average at best against the pass

I think the cowboys traded back with philly for the simple fact that the Giants were going after Smith. And adding him to that offense would’ve been pretty deadly vs adding him to phillys roster with Hurts at QB.
