Welcome back to the Dadskillz cars channel and in this video I change the rear pads on a Skoda Fabia estate. The calliper winding in tool I used makes it super easy and is available with the below link:
UK Amazon link to the calliper tool:

There’s a nice set of videos available now on the channel from buying your first used car to how to maintain it, take a look!!
I’ll catch you soon, cheers!!

You don't say ANYTHING about the fact that the caliper's piston comes out twisting/spiralling out, as @Semen indeed said as well.. Basically one side will be easier to push the piston back. The other side will be harder because the piston wants to go twisting in OPPOSITE direction to the twist/turn of the tool. That is THE TROUBLE that most people dont't know

Hello, does this mean you need 2 different tools push the piston back in for the left and right side?

@@nasibal1 yeap, that is correct and real. For one side you should have a left thread tool to push the piston, or using a technique of small steps (forward-backward) would will allow the piston to twist inward. The rear- left is the difficult one.

Hello! On the right and left sides, the piston must be twisted clockwise, isn't it?

This is super easy, but to the point that now when I try to use the winding tool, the calliper refuses to move. thought I bought the wrong direction tool, so got the other one. NO difference. The brakes were not stuck when I took it apart. But the calliper wont move. It´s a Fabia so I guess the right direction is the one in this video. But what to do if it is completely stuck? (I´m currently on the rear left... In the video it definately winds clockwise. )

Is it seized? Have u tried putting your foot on the brake pedal to pump it back out slightly? Does it move?

@@dadskillzcars I will try that! Gonna keep trying today. It should theoretically move though. The brakes "worked" as they should before removal, although the pads were down to the metal. I´ll be back :)

Tried everything. It moves a millimeter, just so the old worn out pads barely worked. But it wont turn to wind in. Tried pressing in all kinds of creative ways, forcing turn with pliers, pumping brakes, fiddling with the hand brake -both the actual handle and the arm on the caliper that the cable pulls wich moves easily. I guess I´m looking at changing the whole thing... Well at least I now have the tools and know how for next time it´s brake changing season :) Thanx for the help though. I learned stuff!
