Hi I thought I’d share my kodiaq experience, I have a sport line and love it, the suede actually wipes really well as I’ve spilled many of things on them and it just wipes off like leather. It’s comfortable and great for long distance. No major grudges after 22xxxkms.

We have a korando SsangYong 2014, and runs rings around this car, as ours is bigger inside. We are looking to upgrade, to a Mazda 7 seater, which is very roomy.

I have a 1.5...I changed from an Octavia VRS. I am very happy with the kodiaq. Obviously a different animal to the VRS, however the kodiaq is a fine car indeed.

The Kodiaq is an appealing package, but most needing to tow will have to look elsewhere due to the limited Euro downball mass. Skoda are not alone in this, but I wish they would uprate this for the Australian market as the Koreans do. An 80-90 kg downball force even excludes some bike carriers once you factor in the weight of the rack itself plus several adult bikes.

looked hard at these when in the market a couple of months back. I wanted the RS as i felt like the 132tsi would be a bit lacking coming from that engine in a Passat. But then i really didn't want a diesel. Anyway, ended up going a Superb Scout (as my first Skoda), and so far after around 4,000k i couldn't be happier. I do appreciate the handling compared to an SUV, not to mentioned the 200tsi gets along pretty well.

sorry, the Passat was a 1.8 132tsi so less rated torque... still i didn't think it would be quite enough on the open road

@@Sedge86 Actually, the MY20 VW Passat Business 140TSI (Sedan & Wagon) is a 2.0L TSI 140kw / 320Nm. Your MY20 ŠKODA Superb Scout 200TSI 4x4 is a 2.0L TSI 200kw / 350Nm (with PPF), great car by the way... So a tad unfair to yard stick the 2015 - 2019 VW Passat Comfortline 1.8L TSI 132kw / 250Nm (entry level model) engine, however as you correctly mentioned, you got that info incorrect. 132TSI in the KODIAQ goes quite well. However the Bi-TDI (also used in the 2015 onwards Passat in European markets) in the KODIAQ RS would be great. But I think you made the right choice with the SCOUT! I own a Superb 206TSI 4x4 and a Passat Alltrack Wolfsburg Edition. All are great vehicles in their own rites...

@@glennbrown7241 I don't think it's too unfair to use it as a yardstick given that it's closer in rating to my Passat, and weighs around 300kg more. I drove the kodiaq, it felt more sluggish than the Passat, which is backed up by the fact that it also has a slower 0-100 time than the Passat. I do agree I'm loving the Scout, had reservations about being the first PPF motor, but I'll probably upgrade within 5 years so will see how it goes!

I went for the octavia rs in the end. Same price and boot is just as big. No 7 seats, but the performance was so much more engaging and satisfying. Also can fit 3 seats across the back. Kodiaq rs was nice, but i couldnt justify the price...

In Europe we have a 1.4 TSI 150ps now we have a new 1.5 TSI 150ps with ACT technology. If yo are doing big miles diesel is really the way to go.

my Kodiaq Sportline has AEB in reverse and also activated font assist when I was on the freeway, maybe that was an upgrade for the sportline? anyway, love the car, hopefully upgrading to the RS model in a few months!

The long termer that @CarsGuide had for this review is just an entry level ŠKODA KODIAQ 132TSI. It has not been fitted with either the Tech Pack or Luxury Pack. You obviously have the optional Luxury Pack on your Sportline, hence you have "Rear Traffic Alert"...

Hi, Brilliant real life real issues review. At 3:11 you mention that the rear seats don’t have seat mounts. But I assume it would be possible to put in a child in the seat belts like some babyseats are compatible with right? Asking for a friend.

It's strange you worry so much about the fuel economy figures, even down to two decimal places. The difference of 1L per 100km over say 15000km per year of driving is 150L which even paying $1.50 per litre for premium is only $225 per year which is nothing on a $50k car.

Mighty good point there, but that windscreen sticker number plays a big role in many purchase decisions. It probably shouldn't, given you see so many cars with metallic paint that so often costs circa-$500 as an option and so many others with optional big diameter wheels that no doubt cause extra heartache when it comes to replacing tyres. Also, the difference between official combined and real-world figures is always an interesting outcome. Cheers for watching, Mal Flynn

Can you give the make and model details of the baby seat and boosters? We’re in the same situation (6yo, 4yo and newborn) and can’t make ours fit across the second row.

Sure thing, we use two 0-4 Maxi Cosi Modas in the outboard positions, with one forward facing and the other rear facing, and a Maxi Cosi Luna Pro harnessed booster in the middle for our 4yo. If you used two of the Luna Pros, you should just fit them in the Kodiaq according to my measurements. We chose ours based on apparent outright safety rather than measurements though, so you can probably get more compact options. Good luck, and thanks for watching, Mal Flynn

Kodiaq is definitely not massive, unless you live in Europe. Toyota Kluger/Highlander, Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol and Nissan Pathfinder (just to name a few) are much bigger.
