@@rhack10 Hi Robbie. My local dealership indicated 7-8 month wait due to microchip problem wih China. We were very fortunate to get one with our exact spec from another dealer who had one arriving two weeks hence which they had earmarked as a demonstrator. Have had it 2 months now and love the car already though still getting used to the tech. We got race blue which was our preference anyway and had it professionally coated with Crystal Serum Ultra at the recommendation of a friend. It was not cheap to do this but what a finish this gives the car. It added a real depth to the colour and is a breeze to wash.

The problem is, with all those toys inside and electric stuff, you'll be lucky to find one which still works in ten years time. I have a series 2 Octavia which is very basic, compared to this. Everything works, except for the air-con, radio and boot release... that'll be the electric bits, then.

Thanks! Yes, the brand has come a long way, although it is now under a lot of pressure from parent Volkswagen Group to back off and move back to being a budget brand. Time will tell. ^DH

They come. In 1980 I drove one up to the mountains in wintertime. Engine in the rear, front wheel drive. Some serpentins, easily absolved. Driving in the dark, in the snowy forest, I missed a turn. As I stopped, we used the chance for our pit stop. We could hardly walk, it was so slippery and I was driving over 50 miles an hour. I started shaking and cutting back to 20. They were good cars, I have to say.

@John Bower did you know this before you ordered? I ordered mine last week and assumed the lights were like in this video, I have a 2018 Octavia with LED headlights and the DRLs turn in indicators. I’ve seen Ford Focus’s on the road with the setup you described on the new Octavia I always think when I see it it is cheap unsophisticated , I am pissed off now that Skoda have gone this way. Even on my Seat Ibiza DRLs and indicators are integrated.

@@anthonylynch4168 Sounds like he ordered the lowest trim version. Matrix LED lights are an option on some trims and standard on others.

@@Danne89 Unfortunately for me they are not standard on Style models in Republic of Ireland, Style is the top spec here, the car I test drove was an Ambition model and the DLRs were as described by John, I assumed Style models had the DLR design shown in this video, I didn’t realise that the design was for matrix LEDs, every photo on the Skoda Ireland brochure had cars fitted with matrix LEDs but they never wrote in small print model shown has x amount of optional extras ( which I’ve seen in other manufactures brochures ) €1,300 for matrix LEDs so I’d never have added those to the car, just wish they integrated DLRs with turn signals like on my current model.

I’d like to buy one but I’m worried about the dsg7.... lots of complaints and reliability issues..... do you know anything about current versions?? Did VW fixed the pbs?? Thanks

Hi Abhishek, the 'smart' system uses natural language like "warm up my feet" etc, which the classic allows the usual settings to be manually set.

It's a natural evolution of the previous Octavia grilles from the Octavia 1 onwards. If it's a rip off of the tiger nose, then the tiger nose was a rip off of the Octavia.

Diesel still serves a very good purpose for many buyers, especially with this car. Lots of fleet drivers that cover long distances want diesel, not to mention the lower running costs for fuel, and it has low CO2 which brings taxation benefits in many countries. But the Octavia does also come with petrol, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and CNG options! ^DH

Because the diesel engines are fantastically economic.
